That island seems to have been irreparably compromised, culturally...my father, too, came from there, starting with my grandfather...but this country has become increasingly awful, which makes what they did to the original "Taino" and their Carribbean kin all the more abhorrent. Why do Puerto Rican’s, especially from NY call themselves Spanish. PRs speak Spanish, but are not citizens of Spain. Puerto Rican’s are more than Spanish... it takes so much away from the contributions of the indigenous and African peoples who are also the culture of the island.
