While at the Gtechniq Serum Summit, I decided it'd be a good time to complete phase 2 of my IDA certification which is Skills Validated. Luckily Eric from Gtechniq is a an RT (Recognized Trainer) and I was able to to the testing with him. We go over the first 2 parts of the exam in this video.

This is really interesting. This is a test id like to take. Matt did a pretty damn good job. He doesn't consider himself a "pro" but I disagree. Matt could detail a car just as well..or if not better than a lot of detailers out there.

Its great to see matt taking the test even though he is not a pro buy when will the detailing industry and ida realise that bucket washing is obsolete. Zero bucket is faster and safer (not self contaminating) . With onr or shampoo regardless. I dont know if zero bucket will ever be adopted as then people cant sell buckets and make good profit margins on them. Thanks matt for all the videos you do to show people like me in Australia the usa based industry events i cannot get to yet or see first hand.

I want to get my IDA certification so bad. I'm nervous about the terminology in the written tests, though. The practical exam seems like it would be something I would be able to pass. I love detailing, I work for a shop and I do it on the side also. I know when I get my business license, I feel like this would this would really add professionalism to my business. Anyone on here done the written exam? Any pointers on going about it? Any study guides for the terminology?

In my 18 or so years of Detailing, I have never had anyone ask me if I was IDA Certified, because people don't care. Do people care if your a Certified Ceramic Coating Installer? Maybe or Maybe not but I am and I'll let them know. I think to pay to get IDA certified just to have a letter that no client cares about is a waste of time and money. Clients do care to see your type of work though and if you can back it up if you are quoting the client a $5000+ Ceramic Coating Detail. IDA is for those detailers who want to be in a clique on the Detailing forums and nothing else.
