Imagine a Honda del sol type r. Or an S2000 type r. That would've been cool somehow. Maybe now we would've been talking a different story on miata's and BMW Z4. I love that sedan Civic type R

Well.. the del sol was out before "type r" was a thing. So there was the Del sol Si-R. Basically the same thing. Euro: VTI American: VTEC

@@atlegangletsoge6165 At the time the NSX was gonna be the only car called the type r but producing the Ek9 they thought type R sounded cooler so they used type R intead of Si-R

Good video and not to nitpick but missed out on the FD2 which is an absolute beast of a Civic and shared time frame with the FN2 (Europe only or sold as Euro R elsewhere). Also in the list of EP3+, the FK2(R) was the first turbocharged Type R, not the FK8. Still enjoyed the video! 👍

Since this is a US focused channel, the FD2 gets forgotten, as usual, and the FK2 isn't well known either. Especially weird, since the FK2 made 310 metric HP, the FK8 made the same 310 HP in the US, 320 pretty much everywhere else.

i know this is a honda video mostly but i'm mentioning it because acura is also part of honda and they had some type r lineage too but you could have added that the db8 chassis which was the 3rd gen integra sedan was also offered in type r flavor just like its smaller dc2 sibling, but nobody ever talks about it because it never came to the us just like the ek9 civic type r. but it is still worth mentioning

600hp nsx type s stock? Cmon now I would snatch that from factory if I could not to mention the new j series engine j35y8 that pumps out 285 to the crank and 260 to the wheel inside the new awd pilot. And the updated j30 that's inside most of the acura line up currently.

It never needed to exist as a FWD, since there were more practical offerings in the Civic and Integra, and subjectively les appealing than either. If it were RWD it probably would have been much more popular to enthusiasts.

Come on guys. There is so much wrong info in this clip. -6.39 This is a Second gen Integra and not a 3th gen. -7.09 This is a 5the gen Civic and not a 6the gen. -All Civic Type R's after the FN2 are Turbo charged. The FK2 was also Turbo charged. -In Europe there was not such a thing as a Accord Euro R. In Europe we've got the Accord Type R. The Euro R was for sale in Japan.

I have a great respect for Honda, but we all must admit these specs are not so revolutionary. For example, Alfa Romeo hat a 147/156 GTA with fwd and 250 hp engine and advanced suspension. Renaul had a Renaul Sport division with Clio and Megane RS. They delivered impressive numbers as well. Too bad for NSX that didnt have more power, because it would be a decent competitor of Ferraris that time

Much heavier and V6 engine. Also the Megane RS came much later in 2004 and was very heavy and made the same 0-60 time with much more power. Then there are the not mesurable factors which you can only understand once you have driven those different cars, hondas are much more sharper and had much better chassis. The reason why people loved to boost honda engines for track use are not just the engine, the chassie is also totally over engineered and could handle 3x the standard power without any issue, it was that rigid, something Honda put a lot of priority on and you even feel when you drive their standard cars.

@@binskee677 perfectly said. as just im abt to say.... eventhough im not a honda fans, but simply "power" or even written HP by the manufacturer, Is not everything. Top power might be achievable on certain rpms, but how abt the rest? the video even said more broad midrange power. This is the one hard to achieve, ALL POWER ACROSS RPMS. And also belive it or not chassis one of the factor that tells you the fastest time on the track. ive try driven my friend mitshubishi outlander 140 something hp. It was decend at highway, but it has one big downside. After crossing speed bump slowly, try to hit the gas fully, it has VERY BIG LAG. Eventhough its NA. Weird right? So it has very small HP at lower rpm. This have been outlooked sometimes by people

No hatin here! Honda is awesome drove some fur years! But the 2022 Type R vs Elantra N. The N has the type R by the balls at the track. True story. But we’ll see if Hyundai kind of new comer can keep up with Honda’s R&D which was entrenched in all kinds of Motorsports. Can Hyundai topple the king of the hill?! That remains to be seen. But Hyundai’s on the right track. It’s gonna be fun for us!!

There in no 22 type r. It's a 23. The hyundai isn't even in the same league on track as a fl5. Every single video and track test has it way back in the pack. Even the kona n is faster on track then then elentra.

You need to go back and re make it as you got it wrong with FK2! FK2 was the first turbo charged Type R. Not FK8! Yes in USA FK8 was the first turbo, but you talk about worldwide. So FK2 was the first TURBO! I know… I got one.
