The car audio nerd across the street told me that the new factory systems start rolling off the low mids ( bass ) past 50% volume to keep from blowing the speakers. He had an app to connect to my radio to demonstrate this. Which I think is cool. He was trying to sell me 5k worth of aftermarket equipment, which I'm sure is badass, but my Bose sounds good enough for me.

The dealer mark up thing is purely American. Here in Europe dealers will give discounts to get you in as a client. Cars here are also not sold to a dealer, but bought of the factory and the dealer is responsible for the maintance and upkeep. Lets say the recomended retail price for a car is 50k, then dealers would lower it to 42.5 - 45k just to close the deal. The downside here is, you can't buy of the lot. Every car is on order, sometimes it goes fast, other times? Yeah, not so much. The artificial sound? More please! specifically on electric cars. just for safety. All the other stuff? good list!

To be fair to the Mk5 Supra. The reason why Toyota put fake vents on it was to encourage enthusiasts to swap them out and click in actual functioning aftermarket ones…. I learned that from Doug DeMuro’s video he did on the Supra.
@southpaw117
@southpaw117 7 ай бұрын
Ehh, Toyota wasn't exactly honest with that. Their marketing made it sound like all these areas were already engineered for additional air flow for different parts of the car, like the engine and brakes, so all you'd have to do is swap in some open vents and you'd be set. The real truth is that all those vents don't actually go anywhere; you'd have to do a lot of cutting and modifying in order to get any real use out of those entry and exit points, The vents exist solely for styling.

You got this list from Quora didn't you. Also, where are the squatted trucks from the thumbnail? Taking tips from Scotty I see. Ok, so some of these are controversial at worst, but "ruining car culture"? I'm not so sure about that. A lot of them ARE car culture. Bosozoku and extreme camber allegedly come from the same pedigree. However, while a genuine Bosozoku build is an homage to the famed WWII Kamikazi pilot motorcycle gang, extreme camber is, well, questionable. I've been told I don't know what I'm missing by not riding in one of these cars, so I won't know until I've done so. They're not well suited for the road, or track without serious undercarriage damage so this is a style I've always chosen to avoid. It's not a healthy trend for the car. It reminds me of the car trebuche. It's great if you like carnage. But for those who love cars, our hearts ache when we see this. If it can be done without losing half the exhaust and grinding the body into oblivion, I'm not opposed. The most you'll lose then are tires. I mainly just laugh when these drivers can't get in and out of driveways of any sort and high-center on 10deg angles. C'm on guys, you can't even get into a wash bay like this. At least I have 3" of ground clearance. This trend is just controversial, which I believe was the entire point in the first place. I don't hate it. How did extreme sound get on this list? That's more of a 90s trend, but I'm glad to still see it alive. Big aftermarket sound systems was the thing during the DIN days of stereo systems. Big woofers and 1000w 1om amps were staples of big bass sound systems. Depending on taste in music, I could see how it would be annoying. I'm sure I've pissed off plenty of people while bassing out. So long as you're not sitting in drive throughs, or parking lots blaring your music, you're fine. There's a real thrill you get from feeling your back being hit with big bass sound. Good stuff there. If that's ruining car culture, so are performance mods, lol. Truck balls. Good old truck balls. It's a joke that either people don't get, or it's put on total pieces of crap out of irony. It's distasteful at worst, amusing at best. The idea is to be able to tell people "my truck has balls", as to indicate it had power and brawn. Only for it to be a literal statement. It's a little like the guy who would bet people that his cock hung below his knee, only to show people a tatoo of a rooster being hung below his knee. Its that type of humor. I figure if we can have vinyl stickers of 3 fingers indicating a certain sexual action, and large-breasted anime girls on the side of people's cars, we can have truck balls. The bar has been set pretty low on what's an acceptable car accessory. Spinners. I actually don't have an issue with expensive spinners. It's the cheap ones with bearings that wear out that I take issue with. Besides the extra load on your brakes, some look really nice. The expensive ones are cool because while you're driving, they stay still and don't move. It makes your car look like its gliding. If done right, the effect is slick. It's just all the wanna-bes that muck it up. Spinner hubcaps... Kill me. Underglow. This is still a nice trend, but so many people are clueless how to do it right. So many of these POS light strips are just 3M taped on the underside with wires strung everywhere. *sigh* I never did the underglow, but I knew people who did. I was more about interior lighting because... You know, I can see it. Door lighting that shines on the ground is cool. I also always wanted to install projector LEDs that light up a huge vinyl on my back window, a little like license plate lighting. But it was only a dream. Underglow is certainly overrated, and poor installs being touted as "car mods" is cancer. When the local car meet consists of nothing but stock cars with underglow, I would agree with the sentiment of underglow being bad for the car community. However, understand it's the lack of effort, skill, and money that's the issue here, not the effect. FF cars had underglow as an addition to their 10sec cars, not as the exclusive mod. "Not a bad way to spend ten grand" was the key phrase there. I garantee you, it was not spent on the underglow. Lightbars. This one has a caveat. If the paved location is rural and there's no other cars around, yeah, use those as highs for sure. But be sure to use them as highs. If an oncoming car is on the horizon, turn those off. Otherwise, they're great for increasing visibility at night. They will spot a deer or elk faster than any stock lighting. For city driving, leave them off. There's street lights everywhere and the area is too crowded. Loud exhaust. I think we can all agree on this one. Specifically "fart cans", or exhaust tips that sound raspy and unappealing. Straight-piping could be added to the mix, but it really depends. I don't think we want to set the precedent of condemning straight piped motorcycles. Regardless of how loud they are, you know they're there. It's a safety feature more than anything. For straight piped cars, maybe headers on top fuel cars, or on turbo cars I can see exceptions for. But an I4 with just a header manifold? You'd better be driving to an exhaust shop that way... I was, lol. I have 2 resonators only on my exhaust. No muffler. It sounds good. It's loud, but supercars are much louder. On the track, it sounds like regular traffic. For this one, just do a catback, or full exhaust. None of this tip only nonsense. Hood scoops and vents. Could not agree more. I have both. I took a cutoff wheel and dremel to my hood and fastened them with rivets. That's how its done. None of this 3M tape pep boys mods garbage. The vents should be practical and actually do something, or they shoudn't be there at all. Vents for the sake of styling is just lazy and only creates drag. Congratulations, your 0-60 just went from 7.5 sec to 8sec flat. Real performance boost there. Lol. Wings. I share this disdain for huge spoilers. However, they're good for autocross. I don't harp on them too bad. The condition here is that the car had better have a matching roll bar. Sadly, sometimes this is the only mod on some cars, when it should be one of the last mods. Go fast first, add grip later. If your car is too squirly in the rear end, it might be time for some downforce. Otherwise you're just adding drag. Dolls and the thousands of ornaments all over someone's car. (Becuause the rolling ornament wasn't included for some reason) I don't think these people are car enthusiasts. I chock them up there with the endless bumpersticker people. They're all just clutter fiends. You could group them in with the wiring menaces and the horder, who has their car packed with trash. All of them are just... Odd. Car people are passionate about the cars themselves, not the things attached to them. It would be like if there was a trend of people plastering hub caps all over their cars. The enthusiasm for the car is lost in such a situation. The message "look at me, I love chucky" says nothing about the car itself. I've seen this trend added to wraps, like a giant "it" mural, but at least its on a wrap. Just because something is done to a car doesn't mean it impacts the car community. If these people are showing up to cars and coffee, show them the exit. An honorable mention I haven't seen in a while is performance stickers on the side of cars without sponsors. The K&N sticker gets a pass because it's usually a "mod" normal people do. Sometimes its the only non-stock item on the car. I'm talking about if I took all the stickers I received from all the performance hardware I bought and slapped it on the side of my car without any type of sponsorship. Some enthusiasts do it for clout, but I haven't seen it in a while, so maybe it died. A good spot for these are on the trunk lid/in the trunk, or under the hood. Overall, I see some of these as questionable, and in a lot of cases inappropriately used, but ruining? That's a bit harsh. Love the vid, keep them coming. Cheers.

For me IDEAL car would have been a 2015 Mercedes C63 AMG remotorized from M156 to M159 engine (both - good old N/A 6.2-liter V8), maybe (twin)supercharged and with MANUAL gearbox! Color - white with black bonnet, roof, door mirrors and maybe - boot (not trunk😂). That car would have EVERYTHING you need: beauty, charm, longevity, quality, comfort, handling, feel of danger, VOICE (😍😍😍), driving experience and, as Jeremy Clarkson memed - POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!🔥🔥🔥

Idk, these days I’d take the Underglow AND the tint these days OVER the speakers 🔊. I’m sick of hearing Pop music OUTSIDE of the car 🚘 and NOT inside. I can only conclude that the "Z" in the thumbnail is a photoshop. I had to click the video to see if there were any more pictures or info about that exact Z, but no. I say it's got to be a photoshop because it has the back end and quarter windows of a 370 with 350 headlights. Some 350 owners pay thousands for 370 style bumper conversions and headlights, resulting in the exact opposite of the thumbnail car. But no 370 owner would ever downgrade to 350 style headlights. And thats the only way to get a car like the thumbnail car.

EVs with simulated IC engine sounds should cook. I'd rather drive an Ioniq 5N over a Tesla Model 3 any day solely for its simulated DCT and IC engine sound. Once the IC engine sounds are programmed right and paired with the right acoustics, EVs will earn their place in an enthusiast's heart.

some of these arent that bad and dont even ruin car culture like the over reliance on electronics if you dont like it dont buy it if you dont like that someone has it cry about it really though car culture got ruined by the whiny babies crying that their favorite car isnt modded the way they want
