@@mannyboidotexe low mileage, for sure, also when buying a used pontiac i would recommend to see if the HUD is working on the drivers side, i got my mimis pontiac which had about 130k-140k miles on it and its still chugging along without any problems, but one thing about the grand prix is that it scarfs down oil quick, so frequently check the oil once a week

My favorite sleeper is the Volvo C30 T5. It only has 230hp but what most people don't know: Ford used the same 2.5l inline 5 engine for their first gen Focus RS with 305hp. So you can easily get more power out of that Volvo than anyone would expect.

Honestly, a Porsche 911 Turbo S is the most underrated tuner car with unlimited tuning potential. To the average car person that doesn’t know Porsches well, it looks like a Carrera with a bunch of big vents. But little do they know, their past 3 generations of the Turbo S had 0-60’s at 2.2 second, 2.8 seconds, and 2.7 seconds 😏. Destroy supercars on Sunday, drive to your law firm on Monday.

Fav sleeper. 2004 dodge ram 2 door short bed, with tow package and 3.91 posi. 345 hp, add a ram air for 300, move the air temp sensor, remove speed limiter, a good programmer for about 350, you're looking at 400 hp, for a 5000 lb truck with half tank of gas (weighed it on a DOT scale). Add 100 shot of Nos (which the engine can easily use without blowing up). There's 500 hp for a 5000 lb truck, not only that but it has a factory transmission cooler, factory posi (as an option), 3.91 gears, no MDS (multiple displacement system), and can tow 9500 lbs. They go..unnoticable as long as you take the 2 hemi badges off sides of the front fenders.

It has over 400hp on tap and almost the same in torque. The suspension has been enhanced as have the brakes. I live in New Zealand, we have a lot of twisty roads. I do have a lot of fun leaving a lot of more expensive cars for dead. If I leave them at the lights, it's more fun as I am a female. I also did all of the work myself too. Back in the early 2000s after I came back from Afghanistan, I built an 84 "sleeper" turbo 300zx (the ugly duckling version of the Z) out of a Non-turbo motor with a single Garrett 66mm turbo that pushed my stock 160hp to over 550hp at the wheels, and would smoke tires at 65 on the freeway. Exterior had the stock (ugly) gold paint, stock wheels, upgraded headlights, that's it! Only thing that gave it away....the 3 inch exhaust and VERY loud Tial blow off valve. Mind you, this is back when there was NO aftermarket for these cars. So suspension, everything done to the motor, and even my T5 swapped tranny (out of a Mustang), ALL custom. You couldn't tell I spent over 12k in upgrades from the outside, but that's the point right? No gaudy stuff, stock looking with a full interior that ran mid to high 12s in the quarter. Love the videos! Keep em coming!

Almost bought a tuned Saab Aero once, ended up with a Mercedes C32 AMG instead. I nominate for inclusion on this list the Jaguar XF Supercharged. Same basic 5.0 Supercharged V8 as my XFR but you can find 2010-2012 for under $10k. The XFR came with 510 hp, and the major difference from the Supercharged is tuning (pulley/tune gets close to 600 hp). Not too much different from what you get with a newer F-type R - except you can't find those for under $10k.

2 sleepers I had them both first is the 1993 to 1997 Nissan Altima it was a fast car for the time and came with the same engine that was in the first gen 240sx Ka24de. Out of the box it had 150hp but could be naturally tuned or even turbo . Mine was stock back then except for suspension upgrades and o was taking one 3 series and c class all day long in the late 90s. 2nd car is kind of rare and that’s the Saab 9-3 turbo x for 2008 or Saab 9-3 aero xwd. Car came with 280hp out of the box but can be tuned to handle way more for its 2.8 v6.

@@dmitribohanon3106 that’s fair. But going off of your first comment you didn’t specify what you meant. With a turbo, cams, and a tune a lot of 300hp cars can get to 400-500hp easily. Not reliably but easily lol

I HAD a 92 eagle talon tsi awd 5 speed white/ white wheels with blowjob tint. A few simple mods went from 11.4 psi boost to 15 psi. That car broke a many hearts on the quarter mile runs. And 1/8 of mile I was never outrun in that car. ( Most cars just weren't that test back then) I bought it in 97. Cherry car. Anyway, I saw the speedo of 145+ in 5th at 7k rpm. Wish 3rd gear was just a little taller or 4th gear a little shorter for the quarter. Best time in qtr. 14.21 @ 98 mph, not bossa nova by today's standard, but like I said, sleeper. They don't spin out of the hole and would go anywhere, mud, ice, snow. I miss it everyday. 5.slow mustangs never stood a chance. DSM 4 LIFE!

I keep seeing (and often buying) Lincoln Mark 8's for ridiculously low prices. 290 HP all aluminum quad cam 4.6 V8, rear wheel drive, all independent suspension. Lots of weight reduction from the factory compared to it's sister Ford Thunderbird which weighs almost the identical amount despite all the extra luxury involved. And since that generation Thunderbird was available with both the Windsor V8 and the Modular V8, swap potential is built in. Last year I bought a 95 Mark 8 for $500 and it was in very nice condition. Look for the 97-98 versions as they have updated intakes and a few other improvements, and LSC models have a bit more power and steeper gears. Best scenario is to remove the aluminum crossmembers, suspension, and differential and swap them into a base model Thunderbird and that will likely drop about 350 lbs (guestimate) down to around 3300 lbs still with full interior and accessories. Not exactly a lightweight but well on the way.
