I did all that and I am still getting this subtle little "hoot"......"hoot"........,"hoot" squeaking sound from my La-Z-Boy recliner. One more comment that I think La-Z-Boy should know about. With the recliner that I had before I got this one, the curved wooden pieces that connect to the frame and rock on the base broke loose from the frame because they were only held on with wooden dowels. The dowels break. I got this La-Z-Boy, and it wound up doing the same thing because they also were connected only using wooden dowels. I turned the chair over and drove deck screws from that wooden piece into the frame at each end of the two wooden pieces. Four screws on each end. A total of 16 screws. I have not had a problem since then. That part should be connected with good heavy wood screws, not dowels.

I did something similar. I put T-nuts on the inside that dug into the wood, since it's only chipboard. Then drove large machine bolts with washers from the outside in (fabric peeled back). SFSG.

So we have had a pair of lay z boy swivel rocker recliners for about 20 years. One was used a lot more than the other. fabric very worn on it and seat cushion some what flat. but all the mechanics work perfectly. The 2nd which not used nearly as much has good cushion still and fabric not worn. but it is the one that squeaks horrible. Both purchased at same time and been in same room whole time. but only less used one squeaks. we switched their places 5 years ago to even the wear and that is when the less worn started squeaking. odd that only 1 did it.

This was really great until the excess silicon dripped onto the wood floors. When we moved the chair we discovered it, but not before tracking it around. We tried to clean it with Bona but it just smeared it, creating a dangerous very sippery skating rink. I researched and found posts where several people said straight Pinesol removed it for them. We're going to do a test and see if it works without killing my wood floor. I'm so irritated.

I have a La-Z-Boy recliner that I paid about $1800 for. The back makes a creaking sound (not squeaking springs) like an old haunted house. I had 3 repairs, finally on #4 they replaced the back. 3 weeks later that back is creaking again. I took the back off and had to tighten all the torque screws. ... 9 Months later... I have to tighten the torque screws about twice a month to get rid of this creaking.

This didn't fix my problem. I have the LaZ boy Pinnacle and there's an extra metal connector that also supports the rocking motion in the middle of the chair. That turned out to be what was squeaking, not the springs on the sides. I can't tell if the chair in this video has it. But make sure you guys spray that too if yours does. The wax seems excessive since my chair doesn't have any wax on the wood to begin with, so I'm guessing its not that important.

What are y’all complaining about this informative video. After watching this and reading all the comments I grabbed some liquid car wax and a brush and brushed in between the 2 wooden points on my rocker swivel recliner and it’s now quite. At least for now. And as far as placing your recliner on the floor with the back rest touching the carpet/floor I hope y’all clean/vacuum weekly. If your floor is dirty than you got another issue to worry bouts. Yes, big home boy could of explained a little more on the liquid wax. Maybe he was trying to protect his work? Yeah, silicone spray doesn't work very well. If it does, it doesn't last very long. I was going to use 3-in-One oil before I saw this video. After watching it, I used silicone spray. The first time I used silicone it worked for a couple of months. Then the squeak started again. I tried using silicone three more times, but it didn't help. So, I used 3-in-One oil. It worked perfectly. Any light oil will do. Use an old rag under where it's being applied to catch any run off. With the chair upside down, rock the base to see which parts are moving when it rocks. Apply the oil to all the parts that move. My squeak wasn't in the springs. 3-In-One oil does have an odor. It should go away in a couple of days. I completely agree with the guy in the video about WD-40. It's not an oil, and isn't a good lubricant. It will dry out and gum up. It's great for rust protection on metal, and for displacing water that is on metal. That's where the WD came from, "Water Displacement". It was the 40th formula the tried. For the wood against wood movement, go to a big box store, like Menard's or Lowe's. Get a bottle of Howard Butcher Block Conditioner. Howard Feed-N-Wax works just as well. It has a nice, natural orange scent, but it will change the color of light colored woods. You can just drip a little right out of the bottle onto the wood, and spread it with your fingers or a rag. The ingredients in both are food safe, and it's actually good for your skin. You can use what's left to condition all the wooden spoons and knife handles in your kitchen.

I don't recommend ordinary 3 in 1 oil because tge formula is designed to polymerize and react with air to congealed into a protective film. Great for protecting metal against rusting but the lubricant properties are lost as tge oil gets gummy. 3 in one has a special motor bearing oil that doesn't dry up and get gummy: or just use synthetic motor oil.

@goodun2974
@goodun2974 9 ай бұрын
@@julieswann7112, my wife rocks *constantly* and her chairs always start squeaking and/or knocking, sooner rather than later. Drives me absolutely nuts when we're in the den reading or watching TV! It doesn't really matter if it's a swivel-base glider/recliner or a rocker-recliner with the curved wood-on-wood rocker mechanism; either the springs creak or the chair knocks or pings. I finally wore out a LaZBoy chair that was probably 6 to 8 years old and bought a new one for myself, and then had to give it up to my wife yesterday because her chair, which is maybe 3 years old, started going "ping" and knock. So, she sits in my brand new chair instead, starts rocking, and the aprings start going "reek-reek, reek-reek", softly but noticeably. I tightened the fasteners, the ones that I can reach anyway, in her original chair and I lubricated the mechanism for the glider or rocker, but it still makes noise. The annoying thing about these chairs is that many of the Torx head screws and bolts have the heads hidden underneath the upholstery so you can't tighten them without pulling staples and loosening the fabric first; not to mention that there is a square central hole in each side panel next to the seat cushion, where coins will sometimes fall into and you can't get them out because the only way to fish stuff out of there is with a magnet, and coins aren't magnetic. My wife's old chair which I have apparently now inherited also has a loose armrest on one side down near my feet where the wood is splintered and the main strength for the armrest bolting to the chair is from a pair of bolts that are only accessible from inside the chair underneath the fabric where I can't get to them without pulling staples, otherwise I would tighten it. For what you pay for these things they're not well built at all and they're definitely not made to be serviceable without getting an upholstery guy involved.
