I saw a comment from a really lovely American yesterday, apologising for the fact that until he visited Britain, he had never understood how we felt about our over a thousand years of tradition, but that he’d finally understood, and how annoying HE found it when tourists were deliberately rude and dismissive of everything that means so much to most of us! I was so touched by his comment, I would have actually hugged him, and as you know, according to Meghan Markle, that’s something Brits don’t do! 😂

It is pleasant when the penny drops for some people. I read an interesting description of a part of our national character viewed through the eyes of a Frenchman. He said that we're a reactive people in day to day encounters and tend to reflect the energy out out to us twofold. If one is disrespectful or dismissive then expect it twice as much. If one is respectful and curious we're more than happy to welcome and inform. I thought that was an interesting take from a foreign observer of British behaviour.

So glad to hear the horses are well on their way to recovery. It’s understandable that Vida will take longer to recover from that deep gash and the op. The trauma will take a while to heal too. Good to see Tennyson back unscathed but I’m sure they all got - and are getting - top notch veterinary care. But if they deem the grey isn’t fit to return to full duty they do have excellent retirement facilities for their horses. Fingers crossed there’s no lasting damage for any of them.

The trooper that came out with the camera and pushed the horse back into the box was taking a pic of the distance between the top of the guards hat and that piece of equipment that drops down from the ceiling . I read the troopers lips that was taking the pic Thanks for your wonderful video!

I'm convinced all the troopers been told to keep a very tight hold on the nippy horses reins... this guard was also often pulling at the reins ever so slightly when people approached, which is exactly like they did with ormonde too, and you can see how much they hate it... its a shame actually

you were extra funny today, John!! yes, the lighter hooves where they have socks are natural, as black ones are with no socks. has to do with the melanin in skin. as dogs with white socks will have light nails and w/o white they have black nails. Love that Brutus!!

Pretoria was one of the horses being inspected ready for the Elizabeth Cup. The guard, a lovely man was interviewed just after he was asked his horses name and he confirmed it was Pretoria, a magnificent horse.

What a great suprise to see you on again today! Lol if you have ever had a horse shake under you its quite an experience. Every molecule of your body shakes for a couple seconds after he or she is done. Brutus twice today for me. What a treat. Maybe the 2 little wizards put a spell of protection on Tynnesons box to help keep tourists away! Wow how awesome to be able to just wake up and decide to fly over to say hi to the horses.

Most horses that have white socks have a hoof that is a lighter colour which can vary with light and dark. The black leg has a black hoof. Natural colour😊

It's hoof oil John, it is clear, it makes the hooves shine and preserves their natural colour. rapeseed (Vitis vinifera) oil, carrot seed (Daucus carota); eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus); oregano (Oreganum vulgare) and bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) essential oils. Apply to hooves using a hoof brush as required. Application around the coronet band is particularly beneficial.

There is no doubt videos like these will become an asset to historians. fashions, street noises, accents, vehicles, mannerisms, weather, cultures and colours, peoples manners in groups and even the gentle effects of acid rain.....It's what inspires me to photograph my area. That new 360 camera in the box is good, too bad they did not have that when that horse in your 2nd most popular vlog was unsettled for the entire hour I was worried he was going to get injured every time he hit the wall or back doors maybe with the camera he would have been taken out much sooner and they can see how hard the guardsmen work at trying to get the horses settled
