The mall parking garage is 2 stories like the mall. It has pedestrian bridges to the 2nd floor of the mall. One bridge had a missing bollard from a previous accident. The elderly woman drove across said bridge, almost got stuck on a shopping cart corral, but made it past into the mall. Drove by a few stores b4 ppl finally stopped her. She was detained by security, police were called, her license revoked, and she was brought to the hospital for cognitive testing. This video clip is the police reversing her car to get it out of the mall. It happened outside Boston at the Westbrook Mall (iirc).

The driver of that car wasn't paying attention, the brakes only activated a second before impact. ABS wouldn't have done anything.

I've crashed in (really) wet conditions this way, when you drive a route every day for years it becomes so 2nd nature you switch your brain off. I was a young driver and just not catious/conscious enough to have had more consideration other than staying under the limit. Noone hurt thankfully and a lesson learned. Hydroplaning is not fun.

More often than not its not speed but bald, worn out tires that cause hydroplaning.

@@maineiacman the weight of the car does matter though. A small little jeep is much more likely to hydroplane in those conditions than an F150. Tires certainly matter, but they don’t matter if they become floaties.

I managed something like this once. My lane slowed to nothing, next lane was empty so I moved and the car behind me plowed into the car in front of me. It was nuts. A chunk of some body part bounced off my hood.

If you watch the uncropped video elsewhere you can see the guy recording actually speeds up so that the Tesla can’t pass. Absolute piece of fucking shit. Hopefully his karma catches him and he gets decapitated by a truck carrying sheet metal or sum shit.

@@lilorbielilorbie2496 I believe in my country (The Netherlands) it is illegal to have a car fully in chrome because it is one big solar reflector and it can blind other drivers. So, for safety reasons it is therefor illegal.

@@unkono i grew up near railroad tracks and cars getting stuck on the tracks was a common thing. Even if the train doesn't stop and plows through a car, it can damage the train and send debris flying, endangering anyone nearby. It's safer for everyone, including the conductor(s) to just call and tell them a car is on the tracks

He wasn’t following from far enough away, that was about 1 second of follow distance. You should leave at least 2 seconds, and I prefer to leave 4

But you also have the rule that the right-most lane is for overtaking. When there is a truck in that lane, slower than you, he might be in the wrong but you still cannot weave around to overtake on the inside. The Tesla driver was asking for this (and his software might have tried to keep his lane).

Corvette looks NOTHING like this car chief...if anything that Daytona is reminiscent of a Viper, or AMG GT after.
