Avoiding usually leads to more serious, sometime deadly crash.
@JJJRRRJJJ Жыл бұрын
@@mistervo8185 Lol, no. Avoiding a crash usually leads to an avoided crash… except for the times when it doesn’t. There are countless ways to safely avoid an accident… we do it all the time. There are also reckless ways to avoid an accident, which can get people killed. It’s always a case by case basis, and I was obviously talking about the cases which _are_ avoidable (for instance, try applying the damn brakes!?). Also, honking the horn requires you to remove one hand from wheel, and to press on the center of it, essentially eliminating all steering capabilities. When you are going to collide with someone, honking virtually never gives any useful time for the other car to avoid you anyway. It just prevents you from steering into a more favorable impact zone.

@calebyoung10182 жыл бұрын
hey, I'm a new driver, could you explain the left lane thing? there's no law against staying in the left lane right?
@BarryMikokinju2 жыл бұрын
@@calebyoung1018 Depends on where you live! It's definitely illegal to stay too long in the left lane without passing someone in some European countries. Regardless of whether it's illegal, it's considered a nuissance by most drivers especially if the road is busy. Moving to the rightmost lane whenever possible is the generally accepted practice
@calebyoung10182 жыл бұрын
@@BarryMikokinju Thanks! yeah this accident looked like a shared mistake. The cammer made no attempt to slow down, so she was probably distracted, she was speeding and camping in the left lane. The other driver didn't look if it was clear or not before initiating the turn.

What I can see in these type of videos is the lack of defensive driving and reflexes, like the first one for example, you had some good meters to apply your brakes or at least try to swerve to the left (because no one was in the other lane) Or the clip at 1:48, you are not in the wrong but don’t go like 60mph if you are not ready to deal with situations like that, you didn’t even see the car

The brakes didn't lock, that video was in the US and ABS have been on all passenger vehicles for the last 20 years at least. Listen to the video at 0:11 there wasn't even a sound of the wheels screeching. The driver didn't stand on the bakes for the ABS to kick in.
