From reports of other victims, it was a sudden snow squall, where the weather is all peachy then suddenly is a wall of snow & fog. The pileup happened right after the beginning of the weather change, hence why everyone's driving at 70mph. It was all over national US news.

I've gotten stuck in conditions like that last clip. Luckily I didn't see any accidents but it still seemed like a lot of people were going faster than they should have been and not enough places to chain up. (This was in Colorado) Headlights on, hazards on, and take the nearest exit or pull over or go as slow as need be to stay safe. There is nowhere you need to be so badly that you need to risk the safety of yourself and others!

It seems to be the case, that some drivers have a "magic car" At least, they handle it like so. In practice it's not the case. No matter what the circumstances are, wet roads, snow, fog, bumps in the road.... they drive it like it is stolen.... to end up in the scrapyard. And hopefully no persons end up in the graveyard.

Not to drive in snow? People need to learn how to drive in bad conditions. Tips to survive a pile up. If your car still works, get it to the front, and as off the road as possible with all the lights on, even turning the car around and facing the headlights in the direction where people are coming from is great, because it’s easier to see those with hazards as well. Two, obviously just slow down of the weather is like that, if you moved your car to the front, stay in it. lots of people die because they get hit with a car, like in the beginning someone almost did. if you are in the back, get out quickly and run to the front of the pile up after turning on hazards. All of this will keep people away from the main pile up growing in the back, and will also help drivers coming up to slow down more if not just stop. But, the safest way to go in the case of the pileup, slow down as soon as fog or snow comes in and visibility is almost nothing. Don’t go fast, go slow, or simply pull over as far off as you can with hazards, and wait for the visibility to rise.
