6:15 you’re already in the intersection so you can go when it turns red. Don’t go and start turning until you see that ALL oncoming cars have stopped. They may have ran the red but you also turned in front of a car that was obviously not stopping at the red light. I hope you are both at fault!
@gofigure847 ай бұрын
Whether your in the intersection or not you are guilty of running the red. By law you have to be clear of the intersection before the red or you run it. Got a ticket for this. I was in the intersection when the light changed. It's not what color light when you enter but leave the intersection that matters.
@D3M3NT3Dstrang3r7 ай бұрын
@@gofigure84 Depends on the law where your at and also what type of intersection it is. In GA you cannot move past the stop line on a yellow light if it is a protected intersection which means it has crosswalks you must clear the intersection once you cross the line. If it does not have cross walks then it is legal to turn after the light has turned red if you are in the intersection. However any time the state does any work to an intersection since like 2010 it is mandated to be upgraded to a protected intersection so lots of the legal lights are no longer legal. I however think it is just a bad practice period, don't enter the intersection if you cannot clear it!
@dudeonbike8007 ай бұрын
@@gofigure84 this isn't true in California. When a light changes from green to yellow to red, any traffic ALREADY IN THE INTERSECTION is there legally and may proceed out of the intersection before traffic with a green light may proceed. And don't park on "KEEP CLEAR" which I see ALL THE TIME! So frustrating how dumb drivers can't read the 10' tall CAPITAL letters written in white on the pavement! #18 6:05 Once again. If you're in the intersection waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so you can turn left, you do not need to clear the intersection before your light turns red. You are allowed to stay in the intersection even after your light turns red if it's unsafe for you to make the left turn. The law requires you to yield to oncoming traffic (even if they're running the red light), so you are not liable if oncoming traffic forces you to stay in the intersection after the light turns red.

#5 1:12 Well, technically on single lane roads like this, the person intending to turn right at the intersection is supposed to stay behind traffic intending to go straight (or turn left). There is only one lane; no dedicated turn lane. So the SUV isn't supposed to check his mirrors and blind spot before shifting right - he wasn't changing lanes. The sedan is at fault - it was not supposed to be passing the SUV. If right turn traffic is allowed to pass, then there will be lines drawn creating a temporary right turn lane. That said, this is so routinely ignored on single lane roads that it's prudent to always check mirrors and blind spot before shifting over.

and you can see a car swerve out. Likely not paying attention and traffic ahead had stopped, they swerve and the car behind has no time to stop because they're all tailgating each other in the #1 lane. seen it plenty of times.

7:28 You need to work on your braking technique, because you had easily enough distance to stop in dry conditions if you’d only braked hard enough. Literally stand on the brake in this situation if your car has ABS (like 99% of cars on the road anymore) and you will stop in a much shorter distance.

2:12 even if the person with the right of way is going 75,000mph, the person yielding must wait for the route to be clear. Cars that stop in one lane to allow people to violate the right of way while turning left are complicit as far as I’m concerned.

7:04 had to watch the clip 3 times to see he is talking about the pickup truck on the left side of the screen not the right. Semi wanted to go straight and then swerved left to avoid a T-bone with the pickup. however you cant get into an accident trying to avoid one. as a truck driver, don't swerve almost always makes things worse in the end.
@DeweyCheatumNHoweLLC7 ай бұрын
The way you word it, the oncoming truck then is in a no win situation. If he doesn't veer left, he t bones the little pickup, and most likely it causes severe injuries to the occupants of the little truck. He veers left, he runs the risk of an accident with oncoming traffic, including the semi coming at him, who also runs the risk of hitting oncoming traffic. IMO, props to all three semi drivers for having decent reaction times to avoid a bad accident. Someone's guardian angel was looking out for them.
@solandri697 ай бұрын
Yeah, I almost think this would've been better if the semi had just T-boned the pickup. Notice the pickup was nearly T-boned by an oncoming sedan as well. So this could've easily been a 4-vehicle accident (pickup, sedan, and two semis), while the semi T-boning the pickup would've reduced it to just a 2-vehicle accident. Taking evasive action into oncoming traffic also nearly always results in a higher energy collision.
@sweetgracie19307 ай бұрын
I don't think he was swerving to avoid anything. You can see from the beginning of the clip that the truck was already at the intersection. On top of that, if it was a last second swerve, why is the semi behind the truck that turned, at a stand still and not moving at all. Which means that the truck was stopped at the intersection to take a left and just didn't want to wait.
@carlmenger91457 ай бұрын
'however you cant get into an accident trying to avoid one' there is something called necessity. It may apply in certain cases. E.g. if you sideswipe a car at 50mph to avoid a 100mph oncoming car.
@clint28147 ай бұрын
@@sweetgracie1930 Agreed. Also appears the truck's left turn blinker is on. So, in reality the cammer is wrong. The semi caused everything by 1) Slowing/stopping in the left hand lane (which is NOT a left TURN lane) to go around the truck legally waiting to turn left. This then blocked the view of the pickup also waiting to turn left. It's crazy how people can experience something in reality, watch a video of the events after, and still screw up their account of what happened.

2:50 Entirely avoidable accident and should be heavily reprimanded. Commercial vehicle operators need to drive defensively not whatever this guy was doing. he had plain view of the van next to him trying to merge and tried to force him out to predictable results.

the truck has rtight of way so the commercial driver in the van is at fault! Also theres a reason why we have the word accident!

#7 (2:00) ok I see 3 idiots, First one is the cammer that left the gap open, second is the SUV Trying to turn (maybe a U turn as well as the SUV got hit the wheel was still turned all the way to the left, and 3rd is the car coming in to the picture on the left decided to go when the crash happen and go in front of the cammer and incoming traffic that just got release by the light. also I love how the cammer said the car the crashed into the SUV she did not block view of the other lane, well just letting you know that you are blocking view of the other lane and the cars behind you and hope you did not wave them on, also I love how the cammer said that the car that crashed into the SUV saying they are "GOING TO FAST FOR CONDITION". looking at the road, do I see any wetness at all... NOPE and most of the left lane is wide open. so I am saying the car is not going "TOO FAST FOR CONDITION" unless you inspecting the whole 1 lane stop as a condition and think they should go at snail pace. sorry for long comment but just reading the cammer comment just got me going
