I am a Bengali but I don't get certain things about this video. 1. When you are talking about others stereotyping Bengalis, did you have to stereotype other people? I bet not every person in Delhi is obsessed with Audi and Michael Kors. 2. Why would you get offended if someone calls you sweet? The last time I checked, that was a compliment. 3. You don't have to be rude if someone tells you to teach them your language. A person wanting to learn a language that he/she doesn't know isn't even a stereotype. 4. You really didn't have to criticise other dishes. One might not like aloo in everything.

As a Bengali, I feel offended by the way the whole thing has been potrayed. It is quite negative, this video. I think I speak for majority of bengalis when I say we aren't such negative people getting pissed off at everything and anything. Also, I recently watched Popxo videos about Bengalis ...now, that was funny and a must watch :)

hello madam i am a probashi bengali and this video do not justify our culture and norm rather it insults. 1. In the song mere dholna in Bollywood, 'ami je tomar' line is used in such a melodious manner, so why are you so frustrated if someone asks you to sing this line?you should be proud that words from the bengali dictionary are represented in the national platform and you should happily sing or at least rhyme this lines and showcase your politeness towards them. 2. Aloo which is commonly known as potato in english . You are insulting other cultures and their cuisine by not just asking them rather ordering them to add aloo in there Curries. you like to have aloo in your Curries but that doesn't mean the whole nation should also love it and it's also not compulsory for all bongs to have aloo in their Curries. again in this context you are trying to raise our dignity by lowering others.what is the point of insulting other cultures for intaking rajma chawal and other chana item as their staple food?not all of us are non vegetarian to have fish regularly neither we all have same amount of income, geographical location etc to paste the taste of fish on our tongue everyday. 4.singing rabindra sangeet is not a matter of shame i think?so if you know how to sing it then why not sing and make others get mesmerized by your voice and showcase our rich culture? 5. In bangla there is a phrase "ek desher BULI arek desher GALI" which means a standard word in X culture may be a slang in Y culture.not only Punjabi people pronounce bowl as 'bawul' but many of us do the same mistake so why you guys are just comparing our bawul sangeet with that? what's the point? 6.madam we all love compliment, don't we?i think you would appreciate someone if he/she calls we bengali's as gadha rather than intellectuals. I mean you are so much frustrated about other, that compliments too makes you go frustrated? 8.language tutor?for learning or making others learn our language is a tough work for you i think.Or you may not have much confidence in your accent to make others learn how to speak in bengali .You sound much arrogant. 9.sweet looking is a problem too? actually yes people who have these kind of arrogant and bitter nature should not be termed as sweet it's a punishable offense indeed. there are too many topics discussed here which make us feel low as bengalis and it lessened our pride.If you are making some video particularly on someone's culture than it would be better if you not just insult others rather put some factual matters that would take our dignity high. I'm a Bengali born and raised in U.P. and it is true that when in school I was teased a lot with 'Bengalis toh paani bhi khaate hain' but hey that was in school. As an adult I can't remember any instance of that happening again. When they compliment me about my hair or Bengali looks, I just accept it with a judicious mix of humility, grace , embarrassment and pleasure but definitely zero annoyance or irritation. And talking about stereotyping Bengalis as intellectuals or as extraordinarily intelligent, I respond as the situation demands - either I ignore the comment or I turn it into a joke saying I do not claim any credit for the intelligence of generations of Bengalis adding that all Bengalis including me are equally likely to say stupid things or act stupidly so please don't put us on a pedestal. One thing that does annoy me is people speaking with faulty pronunciations - be it in any language. For instance non-Bengalis trying to say Kolkata, Rosogolla, Sandesh but failing miserably - here too the intent matters more than the success. If a person is genuinely interested and is trying, I don't mind their mistakes. I also find Bengalis mispronouncing English or Hindi words irritating (but definitely not to the extent as these girls) especially the V' as 'BH' and the elongated 'i' in fish, dish etc. Coming to the food, honestly I love my Karhi Chawal more than most other dishes And I love my Awadhi biriyani followed by Hyderabadi Biriyani both without aalu. On the contrary biriyani with alu in Chanannagar fell way short of the other two versions.

As par my knowledge , the BJp was founded by a Bengali named Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee , the first president of Congress party was also a Bengali named W C Bonnerjee. So the stereotype that every Bengali is a commie is hence proven wrong. And there is nothing wrong in believing in the ideology in the same.

However, it makes me really sad to see that today when Bengal is in a crisis and is unable to get in touch with the world neither the national news nor anyone is taking the responsibility of talking about it. If there are no discussion, there will be no action. It is my request to all content creators to please truly influence people into talking about Bengal. First, I don't know how many of you have watched the Punjabi version of this video where the Punjabi girl responds to the Bengali girl that we Punjabis will not add aloos to our butter chicken. Dear friends, we invented butter chicken. My grandparents came from Pakistan Punjab after the partition where this dish was introduced. So I can assure you, we know what we are doing when we do not add aloo to our butter chicken. Second, we love aloos probably more than you. Aloo parathas, aloo sabzi, aloo gobi, aloo pakora all originated from Punjab before becoming popular across the continent. I assure you, we know what we are doing:)
