Wish all of them the best for their future careers but esp the girl that dedicated her graduate collection to her father what a sweet and humane thing to do

everybody is labeling them as "pretentious" due to them seeming like they're desperately trying to put a deeper sense and meaning behind their collections, however, keep in mind that they're presenting their senior thesis. in order to succeed and convince the professors, you are expected to come up with a well thought-out and eccentric project that has to have some kind of special story behind it. maybe it's a little pretentious. but everyone bullshitted their way to success in school/college a little at some point, so why get so worked up about those people presenting their university collections

Please listen to what Florian Máthé is saying. I am from a small town in Austria as well. The freedom of expression was not given to me as well. I found someone in him that makes me feel that I am not alone. To some who just don't understand it, because they never felt the social isolation in their home towns, it may all look and sound ridiculous, pretentious, or just plain BORING, but that doesn't mean it is to everyone else. Sure we want to "be something", that is, someone who belongs, someone who is not alone, someone who does something that someone else gets. I am so glad that I have met Florian and had the chance of becoming friends and collaborating with him (heyo, I'm the silver haired), not just in this, but also in the future. He gets what I'm doing with my work and together we can reach so many more who then feel like they belong because there are people like me and him doing stuff like this.

I always find it interesting when the word pretentious is used towards fashion or art. Sometimes it's absolutely true, but I feel like most the time people are projecting their insecurities before even trying to put themselves in the creator's shoes.

I loved the works made with and for her father! Really inspiring! Fashion should take the turn towards different body images. Of everyday people that aren’t even considered noteworthy because they aren’t young and well built. And celebrate them and their identities.

I think these are their final pieces of their grad work so they are a bit out there. If they would want to commercialise their clothes, they would minimise and stylise the concepts to be more appropiate to wear out.

Fashion shows like this are more en paar with an art exhibition rather than designer shows that demonstrate pieces made for the high end market. It's kind of cool, but pretentious AF.

i get where their collections are coming from, but their ideas and ideologies are not unique or relevant. furthermore their collections try to be so much more than they actually are, failing horrible, leaving only a comedic after taste. lisa mann being the exception and actually producing something functional and wearable. we need more designers producing clothing sustainable in every way. we do not need more stylised trendy fashion, which will be replaced, forgotten and unrelevant in 30 years.

Madison Gannon but 50 trends every year ? How should there stick something out
@pxetheai
@pxetheai 6 жыл бұрын
Madison Gannon No trends are horrible... as a fellow fashion student myself, I have to say that there are two sides to the coin. 1 being that fashion of the catwalk is made sustainable from the sustainable brands, and 2 being that the same brand can make fashion for the catwalk. The one of pieces that make it to the catwalk are to show what a brand is capable of doing with fabric and shape manipulation. The clothes that actually get into the shops are usually a watered down version of what was on the catwalk. There are 2 sides to the coin on this, but I do have to say that trends are cancerous to the fashion industry. Especially knowing that the clothes that are classed as trendy and put into stores, are from factory's that give their workers inhumane pay and conditions. It's honestly much better to learn how to sew and make your own clothes as I do. That way you can find your own definitive style that defines you, plus it's a life skill. :)

As another German, i agree with you.

As a yet another German I have to disagree. The featured designers all had a different story to tell. It was not just about "being abstract". As for the rest of designers in Germany, I don't know. But I don't appreciate generalizing. It's your opinion after all and that's fine, I just found the way you argued a bit disrespectful towards the people in the video.
