As a lifetime hardcore casual fgc’er this was much more concise and fun to watch/go-through than the tutorial. Wish they just made videos like this or something.

As a casual player of Smash and Brawhalla, I thought I knew the basics of how to play a fighting game coming into Idol Showdown. I hereby can confirm, I still don't know how to play a fighting game. But at least this video gives us newbs a good head start!

You forgot the diference between doing the motion imput for special or just presing the special button. If you do the motiom imput for a special, for example quarter circle forward, you will gain super chat bar. But if you only do the special button forward, the easiest way, you will not gain any super chat metter. Also there is a hitstun deteriorate system that prevents to use the same attack or special in the same combo. You can connect at maximun only two heavy attacks or special attacks in the same combo. Doing a third one will cause the enemy to recover instantly. The only exceptions are the ligth and medium attacks

It’s a really hard game for me but Nitro Blasterz was a similar polished game. It’s a good free doujin game but I’m not very good at it 🙂

I dont think u talked about the super moves for the meter usage, but other than that, great video

Just a minor correction. EX moves costs half a bar of Star Meter. But otherwise, it's detailed enough. 👍

I can not get Superchat cancels to work. I'm sitting here in the tutorial with Korone and it says "Back S S." So I do hold Back and hit S, and it tells me I've done it wrong. I hit Back+S and S again when the chainsaw makes contact, and it tells me I've done it wrong. The green checkmark appears when I hit Back, but the moment I do anything else it complains. I even checked that I'm hitting S and not any of the other buttons. I got through it once, but I have no idea how, and no idea how to do it again, and I can't practice it in Training mode because I don't even know what a cancel looks like since *I've only ever done it once.* I also can't get the offline Collabs to work reliably by hitting L+H. Always works in training mode, but no matter how many bars I have in an actual match, with the opponent on the other side of the screen, I can hammer L+H all day long and my character just uses her H attack.

ngl it keeps bothering me that you get Superchat gauge in dollars but its displayed as a bar, shouldn't it be displayed in dollars too

Trying to give this game a shot and cant even get through the tutorial, got through every single screen with ease now its telling me to do light attack into down into light attack. and I have tried every single variation of those three buttons at every speed possible its to the point im screen sharing with my friends and were just laughing at how its not working. immediate frustration, its telling me to do 2 fucking light attacks and ive been here for 20-25 mins.
