I personally think things like “cuffing season” are why some people end up single in their 30s, or are forced to settle just to get married or have a child before they miss the opportunity. We’re the only culture that doesn’t take dating and relationships seriously. All I ask is that black men don’t get blamed when women are past their prime and have a harder time finding commitment.

I swear some of this mess is so depressing. As a Black Woman I try not to feel discouraged with these topics b/c they seem to tell me that I have nil chance of being in a relationship. Damn! This is so true. Especially if you live where there is snow. People do not desire to trek in the weather. Also less sunlight means lower serotonin levels. Finding someone to spend those dark, cold winter months with helps boosts those levels to a functional level. People has a instinctual desire to not be alone during the winter. It avoids depression. I think cuffing season is good in theory but rarely do theoretical things work out in reality. People catch feelings, people have different expectations, etc. I think cuffing season is an okay idea but realistically, deep down, people crave and desire genuine connections and I don't think this will get you there.

Yoooo had a friend who dated a guy....years ago after Labor Day...and we didn’t see her for a while..next thing you know home boy was moved in. And we were like “huh”. She was “d&$k-matized”. Yall thinking too much into it. cuffing" season is literally a month long. who in their right mind is marrying someone after just a month. Cuffing season is pretty much the getting to know you phase. When it's hot out who wants to really stay in the crib and talk about your likes, dislike, goals, ambition, family. when it's hot you wanna go out and have fun, be at the beach, play sports, gym, parties. You aren't really looking to invest time in getting to kno someone. so when its cold that's when it happens. that's when you send time talking, cooking together, interacting with family, really spending time together because it's too cold out to be running the streets. then buy valentines day if the connection is there, your relationship will blossom in the spring and you already have that foundation.

*To me cuffing isn't a season, it is a all year around deal, winter it's bundle up and cuddling. And for the spring/summer it chillen on a beach cuddle up but that's just me!*
