My best friend and I saw this movie 7 times when it came out, and were in love with both the king and his cherished knight...Guinevere reeked of class and compassion and the scene where Lance brings the other knight back to life and you know Jenny falls in love with him then, and Arthur realizes it too, was so heartbreaking to me. The film is excellent, with exquisite scenery, and the music is incomparable to anything today. If I saw it again I would cry just as much as the first time.

That's the scene that breaks my heart too. In that moment their fate is decided. Mordred just draws the net they have already made for themselves tight around them. It's tragic. I can't remember how old I was when I first saw this - maybe 11 or 12, and the ending killed me. I cried and cried upstairs in my bedroom!!

i saw this as a kid when it came out here in aus , and the scene that imprinted itself on me was when Sir Lancelot prayed his arse off and brought the other knight back to life ,and funnily enough it just popped into my mind not more than 10 mins ago [i think god's trying to show me something ] so i was trying to find the scene and came across your comment . wouldn't it be a terrible torment to fall in love with someone ,where you just couldn't help yourself even though you knew you're both going to get shot and devastate a heap of people.a bit similar to the scene from "ryans daughter " when they go riding

If ever I would leave you It wouldn't be in summer. Seeing you in summer I never would go. Your hair streaked with sunlight, Your lips red as flame, Your face with a lustre That puts gold to shame! But if I'd ever leave you, It couldn't be in autumn. How I'd leave in autumn I never will know. I've seen how you sparkle When fall nips the air. I know you in autumn And I must be there. And could I leave you Running merrily through the snow? Or on a wintry evening When you catch the fire's glow? If ever I would leave you, How could it be in springtime? Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so? Oh, no! not in springtime! Summer, winter or fall! No, never could I leave you at all!

Simplistic. It was a three way love story that was broken. I've never doubted the love they all three had for one another. That was the print Point of this story. They handled it humanly which was a broken way. It got put back together but only in a way was possible. They remained in love with each other through the end

Wil Snodgrass exactly. It's a closeted-bisexual Christian tragedy, really. Had they all just been Pagans who were cool with a polygamous throuple situation and not worried about chivalric ethics? This whole mess could easily have been avoided and Arthur's court would not have been so easily imperilled. It still is a romantic situation, but a tragic wasteful thwarted one. Their loyalties were needlessly divided and stressed but not absent, basically. The one with no loyalty in this musical is Mordred/Mordrawd, which is also some bullshit as in the original tales in which he appears he is often presented as someone with ambivalent changing feelings toward Arthur (sometimes loyal) as well as devotion & attraction toward the older knight Sir Gawain/Gwalchmai.

@@billf9847 Hey Bill. What I mean by "love really does have a song," is that the emotion of recognizing how desperately one needs someone else manifests in whatever form is capable of embodying the depth of such desire, and music-song-is the quintessential art form for such reach. If you think about it, there are countless love songs, each with its own color and breadth. Some are simple. Some are complex. Some are celebratory. Some are unrequited. For every facet of love, there is a melody and message all to itself. Thank you for asking, brother.
