Thank you, Megan, for making such a beautiful tribute, to Rockie!

Hopefully someday I run into Mother Nature walking down an ole dirt road, I will tell her I appreciate all the wonderful things she has done. But I will certainly ask her, beg her to add more years to our dogs lives. They are here with us for such a short time it's just not fair. I look at our Lucy and think she is our little rescue dog but realize she is 9 years old. My boy Bodie is 8. The boxes of ashes from all of the dogs in our house keep stacking up. Only advice I have for people is this. Spoil em, feed em treats, adopt as many as you can, let em sleep in your bed, take em for rides, let em swim. Buy them pup cups or just a regular ice cream if that's all ya got. Leftover steak and chicken never hurts. I'm not a super religious guy but I hope one thing comes true someday. I hope the Rainbow Bridge is real and all of our long gone buddies are there waiting for me. Love them all. Miss them all.

Well Done, shed some tears as it reminded me of my Aussie SAM, who we had to put to sleep in Tuesday Jan, 2nd 2024, he was 14 years and 7 months. The pain has been overwhelming, however, we are all so lucky to have had a loyal, loving Animal in our lives! Through my grief, a friend recommended I read this Prayer, it has helped, and may help you as well: "He who learns must suffer, and even in our sleep, Pain which we cannot forget, falls drop by drop upon the heart, until in our despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of GOD"

This was beautiful. I lost my dog on 5/18/24 and I’m still crying. I miss her so much. 😢

Megan, I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’m 61 and have had several dogs through the years, currently I have three rescues sharing my bed at night. I wish I could tell you it gets easier to handle the loss as you get older but it doesn’t. Actually, I think it gets harder each time one dies as I’ve gotten older. When my time comes and I pass on to what’s next after this life I’ll be greatly disappointed if my furry friends aren’t there to greet me. Your heart aches greatly right now but keep in mind your best friend would want you to welcome another fuzzy ball of fur into your life when you feel ready.
