Lead Engineer? That's really impressive. Holy shit.
@PresidentFunnyValentine2 ай бұрын
Impressive but, from what my friends who were lead engineers themselves, it wasn't an enviable position lol.
@KryoNaut2 ай бұрын
from my experience in the industry I'd say it's not a place you want to be in for long. It's stressful as hell because it's a catch all position and you're very likely going to hurt your own progress in the industry if you end up staying in that position for too long. It's less of actual work more of dealing with meetings, project management, "teaching people", you're literally a manager at that point not "Tech" anymore

Tech is one of the most fucked industries if you're doing all that coding and stuff. You're very replaceable and you'll be dealing with some insane loads. Be in a job that can't be automated and you're good (as in not easily replaced, not as in "it's easy")
@Blackwing23456352 ай бұрын
@@KryoNaut you got it very wrong. The right answer is "be in a job that decides who's being replaced". It doesn't really matter how hard to replace your job is, usually hard to replace means higher salary, which means higher incentive to replace with cheaper alternative. But if you are deciding who's gonna be replaced? No matter how beneficial to company *your* replacement will be - you won't do it, lmao.
@KryoNaut2 ай бұрын
@@Blackwing2345635 "be who decides who is being replaced" that's not a thing that exists unless you're the actual owner, on the board of directors or investors. Almost every single one is a truly worthless human being with a facade of being a caring, forward thinking person. Stem girls are generally a bit menhera (I dated one and knew more). Stem people are more likely to be into media hobbies such as cartoons and anime (I suffered through a lot of Disney). People say Japan has weird hiring culture, as if though the West doesn't, but it seems like the West has weird stuff too. I was told you 'need' to take promotions (even if you don't want it) because if you don't, not ever being promoted makes you seem inept. Just like Shiina's example of working at Starbucks after once being lead engineer. Nobody ever talks about it like they do Japan's hiring culture but, to me, both are weird.
