That's not really a video game thing, it's basically THE default plot structure. It was probably already ancient when Gilgamesh did it. We call the individual entries of a series "episodes" for a reason.

It pretty much is an old western tv show. Cool quiet tough guy rolls into town, does a job, shoots some bad guys, then leaves.

I took it the same way kind of ripping Mando for not being innovative and stealing so much from what has come before.But they execute it well, the story is still driven by characters motives and choices and its simple, clean, and has depth. Something the new star wars has lost. So perhaps this IS the way.
