Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha Sharanam Ganesha
It is a Sanskrit mantra that is used in Hindu tradition as an invocation and prayer to the god Ganesha. Ganesha is widely known as the remover of obstacles and the lord of beginnings in Hindu mythology.
The pronunciation and meaning of each part of the mantra are as follows:
"Om": It is a sacred sound that is considered the primordial sound of the universe, the sound from which all other sounds arise. It represents creation, existence and destruction.
"Gam": It is the bija mantra (seed) of Ganesha. This sound is believed to contain the essence and power of the god Ganesha.
"Ganapataye": It is a reference to Ganesha, one of the names of the god. He is referred to as the lord of the Ganas, which are groups of beings that follow Shiva.
"Namaha": It is an expression of respect and reverence. In this context, it is commonly translated as "I bow before" or "I adore you."
"Sharanam Ganesha": It means "I take refuge in Ganesha". It is a request for protection and guidance from the god Ganesha.
In short, reciting the mantra "Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha Sharanam Ganesha" is considered a way to connect with the energy and presence of Ganesha to overcome obstacles, find new opportunities and seek protection from him in the beginnings. It is used to invoke Ganesha's blessing and help in times of change, challenge or when seeking to remove impediments in life.
