The latest episode of the Kermode and Mayo podcast (but not their KZfaq channel) has an interview with John and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. He talks a lot about how the movie came about, but also how the Ifs get their forms. No spoilers are given, but it does make the movie sound a lot more introspective than how the trailers present it.

I absolutely loved this movie. It's no Oscar-winning movie, but i found it absolutely delightful and heartwarming. It's honestly one of my favorites so far this year. I loved all the characters. Ryan, Bea, Blossom, Lewis, and Blue were my favorites
