Yeah and that's exactly what content creators are so used to doing. They're so 'desensitized' to horror usually because whenever they get scared they just laugh it off or joke around. Here you can't make sound or you die.. so they have to do the exact opposite they're so used to doing. Hence why he was actually terrified playing this. That's why I always use in-game voice chat when playing multiplayer horror games like Phasmophobia, Lethal Company, etc where the enemies can actually hear you. Even if the quality sucks that's what adds to the game. I hate when I see creators playing those games using Discord just because they want the good audio.. all that does is make it so like a majority of the game is ignored. That feeling of isolation if you don't have a walkie-talkie, not being able to just laugh with everyone while you're alone, etc. That's why on Lethal Company I also like how the walkie-talkie has battery. So you don't want to use it if you can help it. Just leave it on so you can hear the others and only speak when necessary.

@@Eventide215 thanks for explaining in more detail and giving a great example, one of my favourite groups WPE does that very thing in Phasmo but for different reasons, Jake (one of them) just has a shit and very loud mic (basically Matt’s funny mic), but your example is as close as someone can get to perfection.

@@da_dragonpoolYeah, nowadays content creators play horror games but ignore like 80% of the horror honestly.. because they're so busy making jokes and laughing with/at each other. Then when they finally get scared it's less them being scared and more them just making some over the top reaction like how Pezzy slaps his headphones off. Though even he has actually said that used to be something he did for videos and laughs but now is just genuinely his reaction because he's done it for so long. On games like Phasmophobia, Lethal Company, etc the main point is that the game can hear you. If you just go around that and mute yourself in game and use Discord instead, except for asking "where are you" and such, then the game kinda sucks.

@@Eventide215That's why I enjoy it when Grizzy and the bois use proximity chat as well. It's one reason I love their Backrooms series. But at the same time, you have to understand that they're still content creators. This is content we enjoy, but not necessarily for everybody. And constantly making videos for different audiences is unreliable, so the majority of this genre of KZfaqr is gonna be standard content, not real horror gameplay.

@@TheUnderscore_The main reason content creators became popular is because it was simply people playing a game and recording themselves. They weren't catering to anyone. Notice how now that's going downhill with them trying to cater to certain audiences. The majority of people want to watch a video of people playing the game how it's meant to be played, not watching a video of everything changed "for the content."

It's because it fixes the issue with most horror games where the monster kills you, eventually the monster will lose the horror associated with it and become just another obstacle to avoid. Humanity's deepest and most primal fear is the fear of the unknown. Eventually, you will know too much about it and how to avoid it, it will no longer be unknown. because you are killed by vocal responses to fear such as screaming, the scares are not enemies, you don't need to be able to avoid them to play the game, and a scare happening isn't a game over, so if the scare doesn't affect you it just goes on to the next scare without any immersion breaking cuts or restarts. This means the game can just keep ramping things up until you are actually scared, instead of slow burning and skill based gameplay between scares.

they re-use alot of jumpscares, for me i fall for psychological horror more, this has a bit of that aspect but the fact it tries to do the same scares multiple times ruins the scary for me.

​@@ShinochaosYeah, as someone that has seen a fair amount of horror in different medias, the jumpscares aren't good. It also doesn't sell its atmosphere that well, no buildups or tension, you know the stuff

Yeah. A house of horrors. A walking jumpscare simulator. Original by definition. But not particularly creative. Just a way to justify cheap baseless jumpscares.

​​@@davecrupel2817 The scares may be cheap but you're walking through an open world map to find them. It's not like watching a video. The game can actually hear you and If You Scream, You Start Over. There's also a story to find if you're interested in finishing the game, but it's not at all necessary to beat the challenge. I'd just recommend that they make the lore a bit more obvious in part 2. A mode that lets the game go on past 18 minutes would be cool too. The game itself reminds me of the one where people who entered the forest would become trees. I don't remember what that is tho. *

There is vr, I only saw one person play it so far and they only got like 5 minutes into and gave up
