@@lulystalgianature2968 I think the real problem is that people compare pets to other people. I think one big thing that is missing from the non-human animal brains is the real “sense of self”. Chimpanzees are so far the only ones who will, eventually, recognise themselves from a mirror (example).

philippines stray cats will break your heart. there is no animal control and they are treated horrible. i once fed one with a foot long machete scar on its back. if you ever want a cat you can literally just pick them up on the road. dozens of abandoned 4 week old cats on the street every night. the people in that country are some of the most deceptive lying two bit con artists.

This reminds me of one time when I was little. My family and I were visiting Gibraltar. I had sat down on a curb while my parents asked for directions. Next thing I know, four or five stray cats have just started crawling all over me. It was the greatest day of my young life.

I come to my family at weekends only, they have a good cat (newly brought, couple of months), they feed and treat very well, but they ignore it most of the time, so the cat doesn't find someone to play with most of the week. when I come home the cat recognize me quickly and rush to me. what is beautiful is that the cat, can recognize the specific sound of my room's door being opened from a long distance and not any other door. one day my family told me that mid week when I wasn't home, they were in the living room watching TV, someone sounds exactly like me was speaking on the TV, and the cat immediately rushed to my rooms door and starting to call for me, thinking I'm inside 😍.

It should be. As long as cats can find clean water to drink, they will be hydrated enough to be able to properly clean themselves. If the stray cats around you are dirty, put out a cup of water outside your house :D

It's not just this place. I was in Istanbul in Feb last year, and it was funny to see the metro stations full of cats. Some of them seem oblivious to the thousands of rush hour communters. In Sirkeci station the workers have built little houses for them, and you see commuters bring food for them every day. I have lived in other parts of Turkey where animals are not treated as well, but in Istanbul they really love cats.

totally. turkish people care about all strays (some are scared about dogs but they are still well cared in most places too) especially cats and birds. i had a friend who was pissed off cause the stray cat he has been taking of was wandering in the whole neighbourhood being spoiled by other people. their "owners", they have none. each person fed and petted the cat gave him a different name. their caregivers are most of the community. not "owners".

@@discoboy8169 They're not wild animals and they kill thousand of native wildlife a year which they don't eat. These cats are not spayed or neutered and can have a litter when they are four months old. That's why we aim to take them off the streets as there are so many of them living very short and miserable lives.

With time, patience and persistence, I've seen even the wildest of ferals to start coming around too. Of course they won't sit in your lap, but you see them trusting you more and more 😊

This is the same park i used to walk everyday on. When i was living in Fenerbahce Istanbul, there would be (and will) hundreds of cute cats coming next to you. People would feed them everyday and take care of those cats. It is wholesome!

Amazing how well behaved the cats are while crowded so close to each other. Cats are normally very territorial.
