Victor. I agree. That harvesting blue gills is fine and necessary. But those that just want to load the cooler is not appropriate. Maybe the answer is during the spawn any sunfish over 8 inches has to thrown back and the daily limit be reduced to 15 fish per fish day and no more than 40 per boat. I do a lot of fishing in most of the Finger Lakes. In the month of May in several of these Finger Lakes it is easy to catch jumbo Yellow Perch over 15" . The daily limit is an insane and crazy 50 per day. per angler. I see many taking home two or three, 5 gallon buckets with fish over flowing the buckets Some thing has to change or we will lose this blessing God has given us. . Happy Fathers day, to you and all the fathers who take their kids fishing.

@@ifishcatfish awesome way to put it. My home town lakes just changed limits for bluegill from 25 to 15 per person, which is just a start. Lots of guys will go out and keep all the bedding bluegill which I hate.

even with a 15 limit, I still feel these bluegill populations will decline each, Although it would be a slow decline
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 2 ай бұрын
@@Connor-zb4uo yes, 15 limit is too high because if there is quality fish there they will DEFINITELY game the limit! They will bring their kids, or multiple trips, or something. The biggest fish need to be explicitly protected from any harvest at all!

Another top video, filled with more facts,. Quick question, as my Ultralight journey starts, Im deciding on a reel size for my 6.6 foot (198cm ) ultra light/ light rod. The rod has a weight of (3.5oz/ 100g ), a Mavllos Delicacy knockoff, the reels I am deciding between are the PISCIFUN CARBON X II: 1000 ( 5.5oz / 155g ) or the 2000 ( 7.2oz / 204g ) and after watching your video about the only difference being the spool size between the 1000 and 2000 size reels and me not wanting to get something out of balance as Im abit remote atm, what would you suggest?

Agreed! Most out by me too,anything above 6" I'm told are "giants", and "great eaters"! So some maybe close to 6" most are under and bucket after bucket- cooler after cooler, day after day. Usually until all the mature fish are harvested and empty beds are all over local lakes here in upstate NY. Now the crappie and bluegill are gone, it's time for bass season. Now Facebook blowing up with stringers full of bass. I love fishing and harvesting too, however it seems that over harvesting is creeping in alot of local waters. Now I'm hearing that there's no-fish, or there's no-spawn. When in reality it's more like "over harvesting " in my opinion. We should harvest and have a great time,however some regulations should be tightened up abit in my opinion. Big trophy bluegills, crappies, and now yellow perch are getting harder to find closer to home.. I'm seeing I either have to travel hours and hours to find a good spot or have to become a member to some private places to get trophy fish. Just a rant my friend, definitely understand where your coming from. Keep up the great content and tight lines brother

Rant as much as you want Viktor, you are right. Strictly enforced minimum length and slot lengths is how the Striped Bass and Summer Flounder fisheries were brought back from near collapse on the east coast. By the way, that last fish was a Shellcracker, and at least one of the previous fish was a Copper nose. Keep ranting Sir.

Rant on Victor. Tennessee may have some over harvest from the locals. Here in Florida we have another breed to deal with……Snowbirds. According to them they pay rent and have to buy an out of state license that cost more money so hey should be able to harvest all they like. Then go to the camper and put them on ice and go back for more. Then they’re frozen and come spring they empty the freezer and load it in the truck and reload and plug it in til they leave for home to have the big fish fry with neighbors and friends. The meat hunters here know me as catch and release and if they see me fish anywhere for very long, they’re back in less than a week with their bait and ten poles to load the cooler and sell the fish in the neighborhood. Limits are fine and good but without enforcement we’re still out on the cold. I release over 95% of what I catch. CPR works, catch, photo and release. The chase and the fight satisfy me but others are. Greedy people make me want to stay home sometimes but I go find fish that they’re too lazy to look for. It’s all about skills I guess. You’re definitely on the right page my friend, keep doing what you do. We all enjoy the videos you make for us……Tim

Dnr should make 9 inches and up unkeepable. A guy once told me once the baby boomer population die fishing will be better and I use to think he was making a funny joke, but the more I see it, he wasn't wrong. When it comes to panfish the group that does the most damage are old people. They are retired and are out the lakes everyday fishing for their limits. They have absolutely no care for the bluegill fishing because they know they won't be around to experience the downfall. Some also fish to mount only trophies which is another issue. Majority of the guides who do bluegill fishing are a bunch of old men as well. They make multiple trips a day and always come back with limits. If you confront them, they will say that they been fishing there their entire life and the lake is still good. Technology was not as good then as it was now. There are more people fishing now than ever. Fish really have no fighting chance when it comes to growing into a trophy size anymore. DNR needs to stop being scared of old people whining about not being able to keep like how they use to. If you starve because you couldn't put enough panfish on the table you got other issues to worry about.
