I have a degree in Physical Education/Kinesiology, and I am dumbfounded at how brilliantly you explained this. In my lifetime of being educated and speaking with knowledgeable persons, I have never heard anyone breathe a word of how to deal with tight, inelastic nerves. This would explain why I can effect gains in every muscle of my body except hamstrings! Thank you.

As I lay in bed I did this nerve stretch and INSTANTLY the pain subsided. I've been dealing w this pain for ab 2 years now. Ive done countless stretches, had numerous chiropractic visits, bought bands, foam rollers, chiropractic balls, and a massage gun. I've always had a complex about my flexibility... so many stretches rely on the ability to touch one's toes. And yet, I love the feeling of a good stretch in every other muscle. It's only the straight-leg-stretches that set alarm bells of in my brain. I've always just found them painfully uncomfortable. I've tried so many times to search for an answer and not once have I learnt about the sciatic nerve. It makes so much sense. I injured my coccyx as a child and have always wondered if it's related. It's a relief to discover this secret and I'm hopeful it will make a difference. Thanks so much for the insight and gentle guidance 🌱💙

Any stretches that were supposed to help the hamstring made my calves burn intensely, and my coach said it was normal. I had an eureka moment watching this, I truly never thought I'd find out what my problem was. Now that I've restarted working out and stretching after leaving gymnastics almost 6 months ago, I've encountered the same problem. I will add this to my stretching routine to see if it works for me. Holy hell I've been inflexible my whole life. Went from about 45 degree bend to 60-65 degree. I'm definitely doing this everyday! Thanks!

I have a lot of problems with these stretches since years, went to physiotherapists, orthopedics and so on...this is the first time I hear something that seems to make sense :o Will definitely try that out!

I got a bad anterior pelvic tilt and it spasms every 2-3 months because I used to have bad form when it comes to doing exercises like squats, pushups, planks, and core exercises. I definitely felt a relief to the discomfort that's been lingering every once in a while. Thanks for this video Also, can you do a video about spasms?

Over the last 6 months, I have been feeling like my hamstrings have been getting tighter instead of more flexible, despite all the stretches I do. And this just might be the answer! I had never heard of tight nerves before, thank you so much for putting this information out there.

wow, always had some sciatic tightness and I was a little skeptical. Went from about 45deg (been sitting too much lately) to nearly 90 is about 40 seconds! Nice. About being gentle yes definitely. Was doing some physical therapy for a sciatica flare up and before I was properly diagnosed I was guided through some stretches that were too aggressive and really irritated the nerve. Probably the most painful thing I've ever been through. So be gentle!

I really never knew this! Thank you, Livinleggings! It's important to me because I started stretching exercises about 5 months ago, and this will help a lot. Do nerves stretch over time?

Great explanation. There's a lot of bad advice out there and as someone from a family notorious for lacking flexibility, this is gold.

WHAT?! THIS MAKES STRETCHING FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. I’ve always had what my family calls sciatica because it runs in the family but nobody knew the fix. I’ve been flexible always but couldn’t stretch this problem away. And now it just… DOESNT TINGLE AND HURT to extend my legs like that????? God bless you for the simplicity of how you explained this.
