No it is not. here is part of a letter relating to the new Turntable Ladders ordered - Thank you for your request, dated 18 February 2019 regarding the new London Fire Brigade (LFB) FRU's and aerial appliances. In response, I have been advised by our fleet team that whilst the operational use of the FRU will change little the final requirements and inventory of operational equipment items have not been set and so we are unable to confirm these details yet. With regards to our replacement aerial appliances 'High rise Appliances'. Fleet have confirmed we have ordered twelve 32m max height turntable ladder appliances with articulating top ladder sections and three 64m max height turntable ladder appliances. All new turntable ladder appliances will be manufactured by Magirus and supplied by their UK agent, Emergency One Ltd. The operator training is planned to start in March/April 2020 with the following rollout taking approximately a year to completed. They all appear to be Turntable ladders and will will NOT be operational until 2021.

CDB8939 if you read your letter as stated the operator training does not start for another year and the rollout is 2021? I’m going to assume you’re a serving London firefighter.

I am an Operational Firefighter in a Shire County. I found this letter on an internet search. there was some more in the letter referencing equipment to be carried but was not relevant to the rollout. The vehicle being towed away was an old Simon Snorkel type Hydraulic Platform. I did not know they still had any in London. The vehicle you see in use is a 32 meter Magirus ALP. I can say it is not a short process to purchase new Appliances as a strict tendering process has to be followed once the specification required has been agreed. Then it has to go back to the Fire Authority and the Mayor of London for approval before an order can be placed. Then you are in a queue waiting for the manufacturer to produce the Ladder Package and fit it to the Mercedes Chassis Cab. Then once it passes all the safety tests it can be shipped to the UK and go the the Body Builders to have the body fitted before it is delivered to London for them to begin training. So mid 2021 to become operational is not bad really.

Andison I understand that, however they recently replaced some of there helicopters, couldn’t they have replaced them with drones instead

@@EV-Diary A helicopter is more valuable then a drone. up where i am though both police and fire have drones and they are really high standard

David Casey I totally agree that helicopters are still useful. I mean in terms of filming large demonstrations, riots football matches where the drone/ helicopter needs to be airborne for most of the day
