MAJOR INCIDENT - Holborn Electrical Fire 01/04/2015

An electrical fire started beneath Kingsway in Holborn, Central London forcing over 2,000 people to be evacuated.
The Metropolitan Police declared a "Major Incident" as over 70 firefighters attended as well as specialist ambulance and police teams. The initial alarm was raised at midday following reports of smoke coming from beneath a road. Fires could be seen appearing from inspection covers. London Fire Brigade brought the incident under control at approximately 10pm. Power companies can be seen arriving with what appears to be large generators and electrical cables as many buildings on the road are left without power.

Saw this on the news yesterday and thought to myself 'I wonder if anyone will get photos/videos', Damn ! This is way better than I could have hoped to see, truly amazing stuff mate ! Love it, 10/10 :)

Epic on-scene video mate ;). Aha I forced you to go, and you got all this! :P Love the capture of both the fire scene, up close there with that unmarked fire officer's BMW - that was epic. Then the rest of the scene with all the vehicles such as the CSV/HART vehicles as well as all the fire vehicles like the command unit with its command lighting flashing! Lots of small charred holes as well, spewing out smoke! Woweeee you got that rare BFU unit onscene and leaving! Only if it used its blues and sirens! =D Awesome with those huge container trucks being escorted in, but damn that idiot for getting in the way and all the other idiots that got in the way! God some people - and that one man with a hat who just 'walks' casually in front of these huge container trucks as they're moving! Good video mate ;)

often stay in or around holborn,...usually the only worries are taxis, because if they don't take a fare, they don't care...esp around aldwych

It's quite hard for anyone, as they would be in a dangerous situation and something could happen, so they can't exactly be perfect.

At 4:12 an interesting warning sign for cyclists at the left on the back of the fire engine. I cann't read exactly what are the two words written at the bottom of the bike mark, but I believe it should be something like "no grip to the pole", as some adventurous cyclists would do, am I right?

I really get the feeling that clinging on to firetrucks is really something that happens/happened in the US only... I have never seen it in Europe nor have I ever heard someone talk about doing something like it.

They are 1250Kva generators, there were 11 11Kv and 4 x 33Kv cables damaged in th fire
