Episode differences from the Manhwa: • Jinwoo purposely chose the forest to enter the Dungeon just in case to make sure it doesn't somehow affect the real world when it is opened. • The Jinwoo vs. Igris battle is extended more compared to the Manhwa and is still faithful to what happened. • Igris is shown to have purple blood; Manhwa had shown more like a living armor with white mist coming out of his body as he was stabbed by Jinwoo's weapon. • Hunter's Guild's members show up early (they were originally supposed to show up much later). • Hunters Guilds depart to do a recon mission at Jeju-do. (Manhwa never had this happen.) • Choi Jong-In thanks Go-Gunhee for cooperation in allowing the mission to go forward. • Jinho's brother, Yoo Jinsung, appears in the series in person for the first time (Manhwa never showed him before). • Yoo Jinsung warns Jinho not to get in his way in regards to the buildup of the Yoojin Guild. • Jinah makes sandwiches and dinner for her beloved brother Jinwoo to eat when he comes home.

To be more accurate, the trigger for the Jeju raid in the manhwa was the discovery of a flying ant, which reveals that the ants gained the ability to leave the island and invade other countries. Here, it is presented as the initiative of the Hunter Guild, with full PR campaign and recon mission. It's a pretty significant change in terms of character initiative. * Jinah makes sandwiches and dinner for her beloved brother Jinwoo to eat when he comes home. I don't remember if this was in the manhwa, but I take it as a hint for what comes next. Then again, Jinwoo raised the flag himself, so it's a little redundant.

Yups at this point i don't mind any adjustments to make Solo Leveling more fit to anime. I mean even the manhwa had some adjustments from the LN too. And if I'm not mistaken, they used LN as a reference more and use manhwa for character design

In order for you to understand further about "Job-Change", in case you didn't notice from previous episodes, everytime Jinwoo checks his Stats, you'll see there his level, and stats right? Also above his level, you'll see " Job: None "... That's what the " job change quest" Means... Its a quest in order for Jinwoo to get a typ of Job he'll get.. (not a literal Job)

In some MMO's / videogames, a class (or specialization) is referred to as "Job". I could see people who haven't played these games get confused over this term. Even "class" can be confusing for non-gamers. Job Vocation Class Specialization Profession All these are basically the same in video games.

16:57 "'job-change'...Why? What does that mean?" Not a spoiler. In old-school MMOs, the "class" or "hero"-type that you played as was referred to as a "job". Main one that comes to mind is Final Fantasy 11 from the PlayStation 2 era. So things like "Warrior", "Archer", "Black Mage", "White Mage". The archetype that dictates the specialized nature of skills you will acquire thenceforth. Thus far, the system has granted Jinwoo skills actively in response to how he fights. Kills a bunch of wolves; becomes stronger against all beasts. Kills with daggers; gets dagger-enhancing buffs. Defeats a strong opponent; obtains a Skill Rune that lets him adopt/steal one of the opponent's unique abilities (Stealth, Ruler's Hand). He does not yet have any defined "class" or "job" though. To estimate it, he'd be an assassin of sorts. But, IN THEORY (not spoiling, based on MMO knowledge), a "job-change" quest would, in some way, allow him to drastically change the nature of the future skills he will unlock as he levels.

1:09 "Huh?" Jinwoo specifically chose somewhere out of the way to do the job-change quest, because he wasn't sure what would happen. His specific thought in the light novel was, "What if it requires me to kill the people around me?" 10:40 "Wait. Didn't it say he couldn't use potions?" Yes, Jinwoo can't use items purchased from the shop, but the mobs are dropping the occasional canteen of water, which helps reduce his fatigue.

@@JihanRidwanIt’s the cour’s finale, not the season’s finale. It’s similar to how 86 aired with part 1 and part 2. This is normal in most animes where after 12 episodes, there’s a small break until the next part.

Nice reaction, better than most of the reactors I have seen thus far. "How is he still not ded??" For context, the passive skill willpower reduces the damage taken up to 50% when the players health is less than 30%.

That, plus the additionaly 20% damage reduction from Kasaka's poison that he drank and whatever damage reduction came from the equipped armor he had on. By that point he had maybe 80% damage reduction :D

That wasn't a potion he was drinking, it was just water. He got it as a drop from one of the knights, that's what he meant when he said "I'm glad they drop things like this too"

jinwoo was able to get igris off guard by faking his exhaustion, taking advantage of the item glove effect that prevents hand damage, and recognizing the weakspot in its armor and continuously spamming fatal strikes.. you could say igris throwing his weapons away was one of three things, chivalry,mockery or mercy.. either way, jinwoo wouldve absolutely gotten clapped if igris fought with his sword all throughout

Man this one was one of the best animated fighting sequences after JJK like for real. I was totaly mindblown. And right now im really happy about some of the details too. Oh how i loved the episode. It feels like the animators or director did read the source till finish and picked up some nice details which im really happy about.

The job change thing, though I assume someone else might've explained it already. The structure of these quests is very much game-like (which is why he's a "player"). Some RPGs allow you to level up without a main class/job, and when you reach a certain level, you unlock the job quests, and can work towards the class you want (wizard, warrior, etc). Those quests are usually geared towards the class, say, go to the barracks and spar with 10 soldiers. Or, go to the magic tower and speak with the high enchanter. Or, show your skills hunting 10 wolves by yourself using only your bow. Then there's the thing with higher classes, which is another RPG trope. Let's say you're a warrior. Later on as you gain more experience you can "evolve" into the Knight class. And later on into the Paladin class. Just an example, doesn't have to be these exact ones. Or as an archer, you start off as a hunter, then turn ranger, then sharpshooter. That kind of stuff. Same type of jobs, technically, but each job unlocks certain perks and skills exclusive to them

Some details left off that some people might ask about, in terms of the battle "Jin Woo vs. Igris": Yes, Jinwoo was weak compared to Igris, but when he was on the throne, he used that opportunity from Igris´ last attack to hold his sword (with his recent armor, the glove had effect of dmg immunity to his hands, but that was only explained/showed in the Manhwa), and then used all of his strength to throw Igris´ sword away and stab him in the eye with his ability "Fatal Strike" (which gives a critical hit in the enemy's weak spot). He then pushed Igris against the wall and proceeded to stab him multiple times in the eye and below the chin, where the armor provides fewer protection, using ALMOST ALL of his mana with multiple uses of "Fatal Strike" (cost 70 mana) + the possession of his passive ability "Advanced Dagger Technique" which add an additional 33% dmg buff, when attacking an entity with daggers. This is how i would explain the outcome in favour to Jin Woo. If i got anything wrong, feel free to correct me :D

I believe the Potions restriction was on potions on the shop and inventory. But he can use stuff directly dropped in the dungeon. He uses the Dagger because it has this crazy stats with paralize and he build now more agility. He has an Assasin Skillset right now.

😂😂😂😂 i remember when SL aas announced to have a anime adaptation people went mad, when they heard it was A1 studio to do it they was crying on internet saying it could be a disaster, then they went crazy because they said they were going to change some stuff, everyone was hating it so much,"everyone was just minority" thry kept yelling and crying, but so far A1 studio has been doing a excellent job, animation is amazing, voice actors doing great voices, especially the main character, the fighting scenes are great, and I believe this is going well to the end. Animators are saving it, and shutting damn haters mouth 🤣

8:00 its funny you compliment this 'cause its one of the things the anime is adding that they didn't really do much in the manwha (at least not till later or like RIGHT before it was relevant). A lot of these scenes straight up don't exist in the source or aren't as dramatic as what they're doing here, its a great addition to the adaptation!

My opinion on jinwoo's power progression. Low A-rank at start, just peaking into Mid A-rank against igris, now a solidly Mid A-rank. Igris is a high A-rank.

But it’s obvious they didn’t think they would have a second season and put everything here. Also next season is this year so thankfully we won’t have to wait for long.

Couldn't see any comments of this if i missed sry for doubling up. just a note on how he blocked Igris's sword when sitting in the chair. The gloves he has equipped during the quest has an attribute that makes it so his hands can't take damage, as such he can block even igris' sword.

The reason you feel the way you do is because solo leveling is a good story!!! No one wants to stop in the middle of a good story.. people compliment the animation but the story is seriously good, and itll really reveal its true fangs in season 2 cuz technically season 1 is just the prolouge of the book.

Jobs are something common you see in RPG games. It’s like your character’s classification. Like to use final fantasy as an example there’s paladin, thief, white mage, black mage, red mage, samurai, dark knight, ninja, etc.

With regards to your sentiment at the ed of the EP... yeah, that is what I felt reading the source material. I was satisfied with the released chapter, but I had to wait another week for what is next. It was a weekly struggle. A1 was acctually doing a great job with "fillers" and extending the cut scene. The real question the team has to answer is where to cut the episode. Trying to predict where they're gonna cut it, I had it with the end of Igris fight or right around where A1 ended ep 11.

Honestly, I complained about the cuts to other things in episode 1, but then never again. Watching (and reading) was very much feeling like you were left on a cliffhanger every time, but after you've already read the manhwa, you forgive them because you know the next episode has at least a whole episode of content in it. Episode 1, I was hoping they ended where Episode 2 ended. I was actually so disappointed by the cuts to other people and locations that I didn't realize that there was another whole episode's worth of content before the point I wanted them to end at. After episode 2, I very quickly learned to trust that the animators know when to cut and how many jumps to side content they should be putting in.

Job change may be a poor translation. But most rpg games have 전직 system where you get (or evolve to) a new job or class (knight, mage, archer, etc...)

Concerning potions, you were correct. He can't use health, stamina, or mana potions. Nothing said he couldn't drink water, though.⬅ You called yourself a "greedy b*tch" -- as are we all. But what if episode 12 continues 11 in an equal or even more awesome way? The cheat would have been if they had condensed the job change quest into a single episode.⬅ People are beginning to say this will be a two-cour season. That usually means two sets of 12 episodes, with just 3 or 6 months from the end of the first cour to the beginning of the second. I hope so, which would make your expectation for the season to maybe include major Jeju island stuff still be possible. Note that I don't think two cours have been announced officially, but my gut feeling is that it is, and the reveal will be at the end of episode 12.⬅ I hope you are fully recovered next week. Eh, Solo Leveling is the first work, where I read the source first and now I finally understand how all 'those' people felt, when complaining about the difference points in various adaptations. Not a good feeling for sure. The decision to not show ANY damage on Jinwoo during the Igris fight just baffles me. Why have they done this? That's like one of the main beats of the story at this point: in that all of Jinwoo's 'solo leveling' ventures are deadly and he's barely manages to survive every time. Seeing just a few bruises on him after all the beating feels surreal, because I do remember how powerful was the shot of 'Jinwoo laying on a throne' in the source and we got 1/10th of that in the adaptation.
