Thank you so much for this video! I had two slot machines that have been down for about a year and I thought were gone and would have to be replaced. I found your video, installed two new battery holders and batteries, did the reset and now they are working again! I'm so happy!!

Glad it helped you out. I knew very little about the inner working of these machines before mine went down. But I learned that they are pretty serviceable and replacing the battery was much easier than I expected. Congrats on getting your machines back up and running!

Another excellent video! I love the sound of actual coins dropping. Great Job!

Thanks... the coin payout was a must for me. When you do hit big, printing out a credit slip just doesn't substitute for hearing (and seeing) all those quarters hitting that metal tray! Thanks for the comment!

That was a fun change of pace, cool seeing the inside of a slot machine! Only thing I wish you had kept in is the cleanup of the solder from the through holes. That’s one of my weak areas, but I can always find a how-to elsewhere if/when I need to.

Yeah... I did actually try to record a bit of that, but because I had to stand and clamp the board on edge so I could get to both sides simultaneously (heat one side while using the pump on the other), the video really didn't have a good angle and with my hands/arms in the way you really couldn't see what I was doing, so I ended up not including it. But learning to desolder/clean through-holes is kinda' like learning to solder in the first place... it just takes some practice. Thanks for watching and the comment. I appreciate it as always!

That makes sense. I understand why not. But even now knowing you stood it on its side so you could heat from one side and use the vacuum in the other might just be the game changer I needed. I was heating and vacuuming from the same side and it wasn’t working well, so thanks for that tip!

I'm sure it isn't something my "normal" audience is used to seeing... and I debated about whether to release it or not. And I knew that it wouldn't get a lot of views as it probably has a very narrow appeal. But like my Playstation controller battery replacement video, where over the past couple of years I've received a number of 'thanks' from folks looking for this specific task, maybe this video might be something that someone is really looking for. Otherwise, I hope maybe it provided a few general troubleshooting tips that would apply to any number of other devices. Thanks for watching and taking a minute to leave a comment!

Well, you are right about the phone, but I survived, another great video with some excellent troubleshooting tips and techniques, appreciated as always.

Thanks Rodney. Yeah... I've already purchased a new wireless mic for the new phone. I should have tested/reviewed the audio from the new phone. But I didn't and there was no good way to go back and "recreate" the original video of resetting the slot machine. My only other option was to do a voice-over which would have made it look like a badly dubbed foreign film! Rest assured, I've already tested the new mic, so hopefully I'll avoid this bad audio in the future.

You never mentioned polarity on the battery holder or circuit board. I did find this video helpful!

i see the arcade machine is still running, have you done any mods to it since your build video? one day i might get around to making one for myself.

The arcade machine is still running great! As a matter of fact, I've been playing it a fair amount recently. I haven't had to make any repairs or fixes since completing the original build. About the only thing I've done to the machine is on the software side... tweaking some games settings, created some new collections, etc. Otherwise, it's been rock solid. I would encourage you to consider building one some day. If I could build one with my limited woodworking skills, I'm sure just about anyone could do it!

Where can I get that same battery holder? I have same issue.

Since I switch to a BR2032, the same battery holder for a CR2032 will work since the dimensions are the same. These are the ones that I used: amzn.to/4cmbOoo

Those machines must have costed a fortune to manufacture… and think they built thousands of them. Don’t see a reason to own one. It would be boring to play..

I don't disagree that it can be a bit mundane when playing with your own money on the line. But visitors and guests love it... as I tell them they can keep anything they win. But of course I get to keep anything they put into the machine (and lose), so for them it is a bit more entertaining! To be honest, I just like the looks of it sitting next to the arcade machine. So it really isn't truly about the 'fun' of playing the machine for myself... but I did want it to be fully functional and not just a display. But regardless, I appreciate the comment.
