The last store still carrying them just stopped in West Virginia within the last few months. The pizza was actually really good. It was during the summer of 1995, no one ever remembered it around here but I always remember being like 8 years old and getting some pizza all summer. Good times. I don't think I ever saw a large pie, pretty sure they only served it in personal pan size.

The whole Beta/Porn thing is a myth. There were several things that caused Beta not to succeed. First, Sony had exclusive rights to the Betamax VCR and refused to allow any other company to manufacture the units. They held a monopoly on the system and would not allow any other company to make betamax machines. This kept the price inflated and limited consumer choices. While with VHS, numerous companies produced VHS VCRs. RCA, Magnivox, Sanyo, you name it. Thus more VHS machines were built by various manufacturers who were in competition with one another and thus keeping the price lower on their machines. Beta had a higher picture quality, but quality only goes so far and often takes a back seat to price. Early Betamax tapes only held 1 hour of recording time while VHS held something like 3-6 hours? I forget exactly. Sony did not change this until it was too late. Also, video stores where you rented video tapes-they always carried more VHS tapes than Beta tapes. You went in to rent Back To The Future for example, they would have 20 copies of it for rent on VHS and maybe 1-2 copies of it on Beta. Thus giving people another reason to buy VHS over Beta. This kind of ties into the porn legend because it probably was next to impossible to rent a porno on Betamax-but that was not the only reason for it failing. It was hard to rent any movie on Betamax. A friend of mine bought a Beta in the mid 80s when they were phasing them out simply because of the cheap clearance price he got it at. I still rib him about that today. This has been a long, boring and dorky reply for your entertainment.

Yeah the dude who brought that up "heard it" from Boogie Nights. There's a whole plot point about how video revolutionized the porn industry. Not exactly a solid reliable source.

@KaneRobot5 жыл бұрын
Which is funny because it's similar (although obviously not identical) to what happened with HD DVD and Blu-Ray. HD DVD was more open and in some respects consumer-friendly, and Sony was the main force behind Blu-Ray, which was more locked down. This time they managed to pull it off though.

Opie Meter: Speedpump Avoidance: B He rarely does his usual butting in let's the conversational baton get passed, doesnt stop the show to a halt, he's actually fine here Show Contribution: C+ Unfortunately he's also prominently featured in this segment and his contribution is pretty muted, the usual guide of the subject and conversation, but almost every joke or observation he says bombs, and this becomes a subtle example how out of his league he is here. Overall B- Even a more tolerable opie highlights how even on his better than usual segments, he just isn't a good conversationalist and was always out of his element admist the banter. Cuz what these three guys have and Opie doesn't. Chemistry
