Putting this chair together was a truly awful experience. It took two of us two hours and a lot of swearing/angst. Thank you so much for the tips, it was WD40 that helped to get the second wing in place in the end.

Tip for anyone having trouble-- in addition to making sure that the wings are pushed down hard when attaching them with the hooks, I found that a quick spritz of WD40 on both the screw and the screw threads were *key*. The screw kept binding based on the stress it was under; the WD40 was the only thing that helped (after swearing at it for about an hour or so). Good luck!

I was just building mine and also having trouble with the wings. I put my phone camera in there with flash and I found the issue. If the wings are pushed down just a bit too much then the holes on the bottom don't line up and then the bolt gets stuck because it's leaning against wood. By smacking the wing back up just slightly with your hand or a hammer until the holes line up, then the bolts go in easier.

We managed to install it. Our hint: don't screw in the bolts for the wings too far. So the hooks can slide into it's pockets and then when you put the chair on its side you have enough movement to finally secure the other bolts. I hope it helps you. Best of luck.

I also had problems screwing the side wing to the chair. So I sprayed some WD40 in a cup and with a cotton swab I carefully lubricated the holes the screws had to go in. That did the trick.

Very useful video! It was reassuring to see and read that others were struggling with what should be a quick and straightforward assembly. The WD40 tip helped, but the essential key to aligning the screws and the threads was to clamp the wing loosely in place, then tweak the alignment until perfect.

This took me long but I got it! Tips for sides: Someone in the comments mentioned to not screw the metal parts on the sides in too tight. I losened mine a tiny bit, just so they could wiggle a millimener or so. I also pretty much had to put my full body weight on it before it went down. Really tricky when you can't see what youre doing. Also my second side just wouldn't go in and I noticed a very slight curve in the wood in the hole. I tried filing it down with a screw and it helped. It's really the small things that can ruin this.

@@tariqiqbal7516I managed it after a prolonged struggle. Just get it to the point where it fits pretty well but doesn't line up properly then give it an almighty shove squeezing the top point of the wing against the top of the chair. It needs to line up against the bottom base to fit the screws in.

@@edith2985 this is a top tip. Once the arms are attached give them a massive shove to make sure the top lines up with the top of the chair. If you don't get it lined up properly at this stage you haven't got a hope in hell of screwing the arms to the chair.

I bought one this weekend and I just cannot secure the screws for the final wing/armrest (the first one was fine). After fighting it for 2+ hours, I was ready to stab someone. I will try turning it upside down, though. Hopefully that works.

The same for me. Took over 2 hours for the assembly and was a huge struggle. Turning upside down didn't really help, just kept trying to get it all aligned. Had a lot of difficulty getting the wings in, too. This is a design flaw and should be addressed. Love the chair, but wouldn't have tried it myself had I known.

If you had trouble with the wings like I did, try put the whole chair upside down after hooking one side hook, and pounch the top of the wing towards the floor to tighten the wing.

This is a great video, thank you! The Wings are definitely the most difficult part. I had to lean my body weight on top of it, so it would slide down to the correct position. This video is really useful even if you just want to compare what you're doing

The wings are the hardest part. Make sure they slide all the way down and the holes align at the bottom. I had to loosen the screws attaching the metal hangers to the wings so that they would fit properly into the wooden grooves.

Try to fit in the little arm first, feel it is in the right place then line up the whole wing. As long as it isn't there you have no chance to finish it.

I just put two of these chairs together. This video helped because it highlights the issues with the arms. I added a few tips below. AAA. Don't rush or you can lose patience young padawon! it may take loger than you wanted. 1. get 13mm or 1/2 inch socket from toolbox with drill like this guy has or ratchet. WITH EXTENSION 2. rubber mallet for banging arms into place 3. 3 foot bar clamp to squeeze top of arms while seating them into slot.(or strong freind to squeeze padding) 4. 2 scrap pieces of wood to prevent damage to material 4.5 work bench. 5. Turn on happy music(38 special or Outfield) 6. Marry supportive wife who says, "It's OK. You know how IKEA is. Take a break. We'll get it eventually." Note on arms - The piping across the back of the chair must line up and wood on bottom must be covered in order to get bolts in. ***!!! (most important) Leave alll nuts and bolts loose until All holes match up.

This chair is really comfortable, but its wings are awfully hard to assemble. Indeed, the tip is to line up the top and put them level with the middle top. I used a paper to protect the wing and hammered it twice. As soon as I did that, the screws did line up and I could finish these devilish wings.

This chair was a bitch to put together. It was all going well until to wings wouldn’t hook in. The chair is built now but I’m not even convinced the hooks are in probably but i gave up caring after 30 minutes. Great chair needs a longer hook maybe.

Yes it is comfortable but maybe not for everyone. The best think would be to go to Ikea and try to seat on touch the fabri before you buy. I personally like it. Not to soft and comfortable but I didn't use it for longer time just when i was doing the video.

dont buy it i wish if someone told me my story ibought it and after 4 days my child put pen colouring i want to clean and the cover shocked me is made like recycle plastic i tried to remove the cover and the zip was upside down wierd what was made from inside rubish sponge i tried to put cover back took me years the wood made from is left over of crumbs please dont buy it is only made for very low class homless under the bridge bigging passengers .dont think that when u seat on it with a book you are a king is not a joke im pissed off i wish if i can go back to ikea and threw it in there face
