Unless you're a goalkeeper you have no idea how good of a safe this was. It wasnt the best looking high flying save but it was a safe that 99% of keepers wouldn't of made.

To be honest, this looks like a great save, but whoever took the shot could easily have put it past him if he bothered to place it in the corner. Instead he shot into the middle of the goal. Casillas was instinctively low and it's still a great save, but it could easily have been another story. Still Schmeichel vs. Rapid Vienna for me

@marikrooney i dont think casillas is overrated personally, id say he's probably the world #1 keeper at the moment, but van der sar would have to be in the top 3, easily.

@roncesvalless Schmeichel won Euro 92 with DENMARK and in that final kept out at least 3-4 certain German goals. I'd like to see Casillas do something like that too. Plus he had every quality not just height/size. He had amazing Agility, shot stopping, reflexes, good with crosses, the best in 1 v 1 scenarios, imposing size, excellent distribution/throws. He even scored goals lol. In short he was the perfect keeper. Casillas is good but Schmeichel is unparalleled.

@otaama & all the others: imho buffon (still), cech and van der sar are actually world's best goalies. but in the last few years casillas was fortunate to play in successful world-class teams. Going to throw this out there. This wasn't the best save ever, it wasn't reactions or anything, and if the striker had just chipped it or something Cassilas had no chance. It was a pre empted save that any keeper in the world would try. In saying this some of Casillas' reaction saves ARE the best, but this isn't it.
