Trying new filmstocks can be quite interesting and rewarding, or it can go horribly wrong, but in the end you always learn something.
And thats exactly what i did, with no prior experience with any filmstock that sensitive i thought i just slap it in my camera and can expect the absolute low light monster, but little that i know i was proved wrong (kinda)

As Ilford 3200 is actually a 1000 ISO film. So you should shoot it at that if you want more detail in the shadows, otherwise you will darker blacks. So it depends on the look you want.

I always pull Delta 3200 to 1600. For this speed the results are OK.

Dude this video is impressive. Your editing style is dope, subbed as soon as that film popped into your SLR!

Yeah pretty crazy to just slap it in and expect anything. I ran it ahead of anything I needed, testing speeds, push pull, grain levels, etc., especially at this end of the spectrum. With all film you have to know where the settings are for the best results desired, let alone preferred film end game for wet prints. Great vid showing others ahead of time what it can produce tho.

Along with the Cinestill800 this Delta 3200 is another film where marketing leads you in the wrong direction. In both cases you would think they are your expensive low light friends but you still need a decent lighting to make them work or you'll face a "meh" result with it ! Also none of the Deltas handle underexposure very well... I haven't try the relaunched Tmax3200, but for concert and other dark situations I use Tmax400 pushed to 3200, it has never disapointed me. Maybe you could try it and make a video out of it ? I'd like to see how it would work for you.

Hey thanks a bunch for your input, well and thats apparently the trap i fell into :D Pushing Tmax400 sounds interesting, i also have a roll of Tmax3200 laying around, so i might even compare them side by side

Wow, shooting concerts and clubs, I didn't know they made film this high, and you shot exactly the kind of things I love to photograph. These came out awesome!

I use analogue to keep one step away from the man, you know, the same man that insist we all become digital droids and serve the A~I. 3200 all the way.:)

So I bought the same film for a shoot at a bar, I thought it was low light but this was way lower. This video impresses me what this film can do, but I will have my a7iii handy

It's really a great film for those very low light situations, but it can't perform magic and produce an image with too little light, so having that a7iii is a good idea

Would it help to set the ISO on the camera to 1600 or 800 when using this film?
@adamsanalogadventures
@adamsanalogadventures 2 жыл бұрын
It could help, but i think in the situation i was shooting ther just wasnt enough light, even if i would've "overexposed", then the highlights would've been blown but the rest might still remain black because of the high contrast of the scene
