Agent D has a short screen time in the movie but we still learn a lot about him. He is clearly a very capable and experienced agent, but old age has creeped up on him. I wish he didn't have to be neuralized tho, he may not be fit for fieldwork anymore but with his experience he could've been like an instructor for new MIB recruits.

Dementia can make you spew some things uncontrollably. Can't risk leaking federal secrets that way. You might think those not in the know would take them as delusional ramblings, but those in the know would find information if they know what to look for. His accent is awful lmao I’m Salvadoran and have been bilingual my whole life. His Spanish is on par with someone that’s been using Rosetta Stone for a few months haha sure he speaks it well enough to get what he’s saying but it’s not impressive in the slightest. Still very obvious that it’s a secondary language for him. He lacks the flow and smoothness of a fluent Spanish speaker. When you grow up speaking a second language and you hear someone that isn’t native to that language it’s sooooo cringy lol I hate hearing white people try to speak Spanish

I just realized “look at the stars” is some kind of code phrase for agents who want to be neutralized. That’s why he said, “I’m gonna miss the chase” he knew his time as an agent was over. K didn’t make that choice, D did.
@boondogglet132
@boondogglet132 2 жыл бұрын
Look at the stars was reused in the second film when J is trying to get K to remember. Its because after so many years of exposure and training that certain things become impulsive or by instinct. Almost like an image burned into a tv screen. I think its because when the former agents see the stars, its something that feels familiar and calming. this just goes to show the true caliber of the trilogy that almost 30 years later and we still havent unpacked everything MiB has to offer
@r3b3lvegan89
@r3b3lvegan89 2 жыл бұрын
Actually K says it to Jay in the first movie before Jay neuralizers him because K wanted out and said so, it’s a inside joke code agents say when they’re ready to have peace in their lives again instead of always risking their lives while being ghosts to the public.

It's part of commanding respect. He knows the people doubt him, that's fine but he still has the power and he knows it. The Officers rightfully doubt who they're dealing with but figured either way they would be in the right, as in catching the more serious offense or doing the right thing. This kind of attitude can be used by anyone in the right situations, it's best not claim you have power but silently suggest you do. Take it this way, someone with real power usually won't argue with someone who doubts them because in the end they're right, instead of saying "I will have you fired" they might just ask for them to clarify their name. This is a complex idea so naturally no simple explanation is perfect but this kind of thing can drastically change situations. You will see it a lot in many better written movies, some fail miserably at conveying it. True power or wealth isn't something you should have to even tell someone about, them believing you or not doesn't matter usually. Why waste your time?

There's actually a reason why the movie didn't work..... it wasn't the director's true movie, I found out that the director's original cut actually delved more into the ideas of immigration like what we saw in the first Men in Black movie and of course the international stuff too. But the studio didn't like his cut and told him to reshoot the film that suits the executive's taste and honestly it was a horrible decision, I would love to see his original cut but I have doubts that it'll be better than what we unfortunately got.

This is truly one of the best opening scenes of any movie ever. It establishes who and what the MIB is, and what they do, and it does this by showing us that the MIB has more authority than the police. It shows us what the neuralizer does. It shows us that there are aliens living secretly amongst the population. It gives us a peek at the weaponry at the disposal of the MIB. It sets the tone for the rest of the movie by being serious, but not too serious as the movies have its many funny moments. And how long does it take to do all that? Seven minutes. Amazing.

It could understand English but seemingly couldn't use it to reply (didn't even use it during the initial questions). It only had the head to interact with others, so how did it give payment or communicate beyond nods/smiles/grimaces? How the heck did it even open doors, pick itself up, or do any other thing without getting caught? @@Aethelia Also the knowledge that the border can be swam around requires at least some understanding of Earth's geography. We know the Gulf separates the US and Mexico because we live on this planet. For all Mikey knows, it's impossible, and would go as well as trying to swim from Japan to Mongolia. Also, it doesn't seem Mikey's actually able to talk efficiently while in disguise (and he isn't even remotely fluent in Spanish anyway) so it's not like he could just ask someone.

Assuming the original MiB is set in year it came out (1997), you can use lore details to calculate backwards and figure out that the MiB was founded in 1947. This seems very reasonable, since 1947 was the year of the Roswell Crash, and that's far too convenient to be a coincidence. This also suggests the Roswell Crash was what caused humans (or at least Americans) to learn about the existence of aliens.
