Mark English and my father were best friends and students together at Art Center. I recall many visits to the English home as a child. Mark was one of the greatest illustrators of all time.

I posted this same comment on your recent video about Bernie Fuchs, but it’s more appropriate to post it here. I have been a fan of your father’s work since I was in high school in the late 1970s. I pursued a degree in ‘advertising design’, i.e. illustration, and followed his work closely as well as the work of Bernie Fuchs, Fred Otnes, Allan Cober, Bob Peak, and Bob Heidel. I couldn’t believe my good fortune when in the fall of 1980 the scaled-down Illustrators Seminar came to the campus of TCU in Ft. Worth, Texas. I drove up from Houston and got to meet your father and all but one of those great artists. Bob Peak was on an assignment and couldn’t attend. I even brought with me the Illustrators Seminar’s poster (it doubled as an enrollment form) and each of the illustrators autographed their photo for me!! I still have that poster. My best to your father! He remains an inspiration to me.

As an artist, this is the most exciting work that I've ever seen. Truly. Mark's work fires something in my soul.

Thank you for this wonderful video and sharing about your father. Drawing skills were an important part of the curriculum for advertising Design students at Art Center. I was an advertising illustration major and graduated in 1979. This program harkens back to the day when advertising art directors mocked up the entire ad and relied on their own illustration skills. Your father was my hero and a huge influence on me. This presentation is one of the best things I’ve ever watched. I learned so much watching this. I’m going to share it with my friend who was an illustration major at Art Center and a professional illustrator. He will love it.
