Hello, just for those who got stuck like me. I kept having to wait for the machine to cool down, I noticed that it's best to press the left button after maybe 5-8 seconds. If it stops flashing from heating mode and goes to alternating lights signaling to descale it's too late. You mentioned within 15 seconds, but that was too long for mine, I kept having to let the machine cool again. I suggest 5-8 seconds max

If you missed the 15 second window… you can turn the machine and then press and hold the left button to get it into descaling mode vs waiting for the machine to cool down.

Hi, thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I used Nespresso descaling solution as that's what I had at the time but Illy do their own and it's available from their shop here: www.illy.com/en-gb/shop/espresso-machines/coffee-machine-cleaners-accessories/coffee-machine-descaler/B099.html I've never used it so let me know how you get on.

Very detailed video. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to enter the descaling mode by press the left button within 15s, tried many times but just not working. I am pretty sure that the machine was cold enough every time I tried. Any ideas on the root cause? Thank you very much.

Figured it out surprisingly. I entered the descaling by pressing the right button instead of the left one…..Looks like I got a repaired machine and pcb could have been installed upside down or the wiring was reversed ….. Thanks again, your video really helped.

Before I used it , I put a water and then three times press the longo button without tapping on the espresso button before just like you , so Am I did it right ? , also you don’t need to do the same for the espresso button like press it three times if you did that with the longo button , right ?

Thanks for your comment. You're right, you don't need to use the Espresso button for descaling, just the Lungo button. Did you get it to work ok?

Hi Bogdan, I don't have this machine any more, but it sounds like you just need to re-program the buttons so that they provide the right amount of coffee. Good luck!

When do you escape? I just purchased the y3.3 illy machine just to use for regular American coffee( sorry I meant to say why do you descale)

Hi Pawel, of course. That liquid was the Nespresso Descaling solution and is available here :amzn.to/3JAC69M. That said any coffee machine descaling solution would work well I am sure.

The two buttons keep flashing at the same pace and not alternating. To make expresso or coffee they need to be solid but the buttons keep flashing even after bringing descaled.

Here in the UK the Illy capsules are only sold in a few places (mostly online) and there isn't much choice. I tried Nespresso and the coffee is much the same but the capsules are available everywhere and there's lots of choice so it made sense to switch over. Once done, I didn't use my Illy machine so I sold it on eBay.
