Hi, Sam. Please consider taking into acount my opinion. This type of videos were fun at first as a way to merely break patterns and stereotypes. And it's surely a past breakpoint. But you won't find a summary to such complexive issues via this format. Too many variables and this particular question is borderline personal for Russians. I would kindly suggest that you should at least consider focusing more on places or detailed stories. If you're not planning to drive too far tor now, visit museums, go to homeland-study centres. We cal them Krayevedcheskiy museum. There should be at least one in Vlarimir.

I am Russian, immigrated to Canada in 2001, and visited the States many times. I have enough of this foreign land, I am going back to my great motherland, beautiful Russia! Sam, One thing that is striking is how thoughtful responses are. Frankly, I suspect many Russians would like to live in the America of 1990 or earlier, before the country descended to total depravity and before being a brainwashed freak was normal. Victor Bout touched on this in an interview he did with Russian TV just after he was released.

America was pretty bad in those years as well. They just had better marketability, better pop culture (movies, music, and such things). America has always been in the business of selling illusions about itself, but it seems they've lost this abillity, their greatest strength and the source of their soft power.

I fled America almost 6 years ago! This is what I see there: AI and its Impact on Society Oct 31, 2023, updated on April 11, 2024 We must ask ourselves, "What will happen when AI has taken 85% of jobs present in 2020? What will we do? How will we eat and survive without incomes from jobs or other means?" What is disturbing is that while AI is taking these jobs, the gov't and the corporations have not done ANYTHING to prepare us for an AI'ed civilization. They have not said anything about major retraining of an entire economy to something else, and they have not followed up on a discussion of universal basic income. This is supposedly supported by a lack of information in the latest government budgets submitted and approved as reported by some KZfaq videos. It appears that the US gov't and the corporations intend to kill off the majority of Americans passively, through starvation from lack of income to buy food. (check and see if farming production is declining or will start to decline ahead of the "starvation phase") (also check to see if the "makeup" of robot equipment allocation would change to reflect a trend away from retail and services for the masses, possibly indicating an extinction of the American public - this means taking a robot from Chipotle and repurposing it for some other job not related to the public, or scrapping affected robots to be remade for some other purpose that has nothing to do with the public) It appears that the decline of farming has already started with the state of Maine buying farm land under the pretext that there are "forever chemicals" present at around 20 parts per TRILLION (safe level is said to be only 4 parts per TRILLION), which does not make sense, BUT this would rope in a LOT of land across the US. Other states may follow suit in addition to the ten states that have similar laws in place. This way, there are only enough people alive to get some things done, and the rest is done by AI, and the survivors who planned this can claim the whole country for themselves. Imagine having an estate mansion half the size of a mall on several dozen thousand acres of land, and robots would be used to maintain and clean the estates and do the farming FOR THE ESTATE OWNERS. The Western Man's wet dream of civilization. What will the Native Americans south of the US border do when they see this coming, especially when they can buy firearms legally now? Hopi prophecy...

As russian girl I would like to answer on that question :) I was in States 2 times back in 2000 and 2001 when i was university. First time with student exchange program. And next year work and travel for all summer. And even in this time, when i was young and dark 90 just passed and everyone were still dreaming about american life, my answer was - NO! It was fun to travel, study and work for a bit. But i didn`t feel like i was at home. People are nice, but i didn`t feel deep connection with them. I mean... it is probably very hard to find true friend there, "who will give you last shirt in time of need". ANd every american was asking - why i am not staying and planing to going back in Russia?! it was shoking for them. And in was strange for me - why they are so shoked. I liked to live in Russia and especially in St.Petersburg. And it was very strange to give up family, friends and go and start your life in USA but working 2 jobs with low income. Funny enough later i meet my turkish husband and we lives in Istanbul for 10 years. And i felt in love with Turkey and Istanbul. I felt like in home there. Now we live in Moscow and probably will go back in Turkey when we will get retired :) But i would love to travel to USA now for month like a tourist.

The rose-colored glasses came off when I started watching translated American shows on the MTV channel (Room Raiders, Date My Mom, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, Next). Then I saw what the real America was, and I had a dissonance. Because that's not what I've seen in movies. It's an ordinary country that doesn't attract me that much. Its advantage is media propaganda through films. Americans can even make a rural hinterland with a maniac an attractive place. In general, I advise anyone who wants to move to any country - learn as much as possible about it so as not to be too fascinated. If even the flaws don't scare you away, then come. P.S. Yes, in Russia there are also various stupid shows with real people, but I was under the illusion that everything is perfect in America, and all the people there are kind, smart and beautiful. It's funny to think about it now.

Oh yeah. I remember watching Holllywood movies in Russia, in which beautiful people lived in the most opulent places. For example, in The Firm, Tom Cruise is a young lawyer who gets hired by a firm and is immediately able to purchase a gorgeous country home. It was all complete nonsense, but we didn't know we were lied to! We thought only our own government would lie to us.

Hi, Sam. The biggest societal difference in our two countries, outside of what some media purport, is multiculturalism vs multinationalism. In a multicultural society like the U.S. and Canada, life can be beautiful, interesting, and exciting, but if something goes awry between cultures, it makes life quite stressful because most spaces are shared. It's harder to find your own space. In multinational societies like the Russian Federation, you can still find interesting, beautiful, and exciting aspects of life and culture, but if things go wrong between cultures, you can go back to your republic, okrug, krai, oblast and feel somewhat at home. This is quite nuanced obviously. In cases like Belgium, the UK, or Nigeria, you have multiculturalism mixed with multinationalism. Again, it can make life beautiful, interesting, and exciting, but things can begin to fragment easily. This is part of what happened to the Former Yugoslavia when it balkanized -- multinationalism wasn't working and multiculturalism is much harder to make work in this geographic space. Can you imagine Yugoslavia together again in international football (soccer) or basketball? They'd be unstoppable. *The lady who said she had a friend in Boston also said, "There is no ideal place on this Earth." She speaks truth. She would make a good friend.

Most of my family in Western Europe would never want to leave their birth country.. Some of them will admit that their attitude has changed over the decades regarding politics, racism, etc, etc.. Fast forward to today, and many Europeans are turning their eyes to far-right politics.... They now realize that their immigration policy that allowed tens of millions to enter and stay from far away countries has changed society for the worse..

I think that people would answer differently if this survey were taken 30 years ago, when the Russian economy was in rough shape and America was still mostly embracing traditional values. I think it's those old comparisons that a lot of older people have in mind. With Russia having revived its economy while MAINTAINING traditional values while the U.S. government has tried to cripple Russia's economy -- and the American society is staggering under the weight of DEI, virtually unregulated immigration, and depravities of all sorts, why in the world would anyone want to leave Russia to live here in the U.S.A.? I'm sad to see what's happened to my country -- but happy for Russians (and others) who have managed to hold onto those values that truly make life more satisfying and provide a framework for better-adjusred children as they develop, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. Russia, please pray for us all. We need all the help we can get. 🇺🇸🇷🇺

In 1980 the USA was number one in the world in terms of quality of life and living standards. Since then the USA has plummeted down the rankings as economic policies that only benefit the extremely wealthy have led to poor undefunded public services which in turn has led to increases in homelessness, crime and a cost of living where now even with two professional middle class full time adults in the household they cannot afford a standard of living that their parents had. Unfortunately billions is spent on propaganda targeted at the elderly and poorly educated telling them that this system is OK and anything else will lead to doom and really the problem is any minority group that they can target with BS conspiracy theory theories.

They probably thought you were asking, cause you wanted to take them there. so of course they wouldnt feel odd, and just say no. your best bet, unless you did this off camera, was to explain to them how many westerners, thought russian girls really want to move to america, and if there is any truth to it.

Most people anywhere are quite sensible, so when you just come up and ask "would you like to live in X country", there is a whole lot missing: Where exactly, doing what, what income, with whom, etc. Living in America can be New York, Atlanta, Miami, Small town, Kansas, small town Iowa, on a mountain top, Colorado, Reno, Nevada - in orher words, you can have a vastly different life within a country. In the 90's and 00's, I stayed a lot in Sct. Petersburg, and I thought I as a pensioner would stay all summer in Russia. Now I dont, and I and my Russian wife prefers to live in a camper all over Europe most of the year, and home base is Denmark. I have been living in the US in the 70's, and I would never really point to any one country - but rather to a particular place, that feels right. That can be in any country - as long as you don't need to go out and earn a living there.
