My wife died Friday after her second battle with cancer, and only 32. She suffered tremendously. She's at peace and has no suffering, but i truly am lost. Dont see a way forward. We bury her on Thursday. Lord, give me strength to make it through the ceremony. This song found me at the right time. Just wow.

I'm sorry for your loss, and I just wanted to tell you something, and I'm speaking from personal experience,,,,, TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS, I can understand that you are angry, and I was too,,,, I would get drunk and would scream up at the sky,,,, yelling and cursing at God, I blamed myself, I blamed God, but as time passed, I learned to live with the fact that they're gone, ( lost 2 wives, one was killed and postmortem raped, while I was at work ,,,,, and COVID-19 did my second wife in, she died in our bed in my arms,) so what I'm really trying to say is that I understand your anger, and by all means vent it out,,,,, because right now at this stage is the only thing that will make you feel someone better,,,, but like I said,,, only time will help. I really hope that do you find my words somewhat useful..

My fiancee introduced me to this song, explaining how much it meant to her after her husband succumbed to his cancer a few years ago. I thought I understood it, and appreciated all of the the themes and emotions expressed here. Then she passed a few weeks ago from cancer, 4 days before I was to fly to the US to be with her. I understand, feel and appreciate everything a whole lot more now.

Oh my goodness - I’m so sorry to hear - well I’m in a similar boat - lost my mom to cancer and she was the hub that held the family together - and my brother and my dad and myself continue to struggle our lives with out her- well when this song was released I could not believe his fitting it was format that time!! my brother was involved in an accident which got his girlfriend killed and he is in prison now for the rest of his life!! So now my dad and I are all we have it just eats me up inside at times - this song I listen to over and over again it takes me back to those memories because of how wrecked my life is and now trying to pick the pieces up to keep moving forward has been an upward challenge for me but I keep going - one day at a time. Prayers for all of us who are damaged from the wreck of life.🙏

A bit late posting to this, but it came up as KZfaq was randomly playing things for me. I've listened to it multiple times be it on here, the radio, or spotify. I just wanted to take a moment to write out how it has affected and helped me during a very difficult process. When I first heard it, 2 years ago, my grandfather had just passed away. The man, for all intent and purpose, that was my father figure for majority of my life. Every time I hear this song, like now, I can't help but take a moment to remember him. To grieve him. I allow myself a few minutes to do that while listening to this song whenever it comes up. Grieving is never over. Thank you ID. Thank you for writing, creating, producing, and pushing a song like this out into the world.

I understand everything you’ve gone through. The loss of a grandparent messes you up. It’s like you haven’t been alive long enough to fully know them, but you still love them with your entire heart and soul. For me personally I’ve lost many family members that I cared for deeply. I lost my twin brother in 2010. He was only 21. This song and music video is very similar to how I felt and feel still to this day. This song makes me cry every time. With the lyric and video being a great representation of loss of a loved one. Close or even distant family and friends.

I just discovered this song recently.. And I honestly thought it was just released, it's been my favorite for the last few weeks and no doubt a new all time favorite. I obviously don't follow imagine dragons much, I have quite a handful of their songs, but Imagine Dragons just won me over as a way bigger fan. The amount of realness and emotion in this song, it is a POWERFUL and very very beautifully created song. This truly is art. The vocals blew my mind. And I watched the live version and that blew me away as well.

Those lyrics hit so close to home for me bc it makes me think about how when I was little my mom used to leave for weeks at a time after saying she'd be gone for only a few days and I used to wait on a chair at the window for hours to the point where I'd sleep there and I remember often watching the rain trickle on the window getting scared by the thunder but having no one to cheer me. Sry for a punctuationless rant but got a little emotional while writing it

I've heard this song a hundred times and love it.... But tonight. Tonight it hit so very differently. I lost my mom in 2020 quite tragically (not due to covid). At the time I didn't have time to process my loss. I was incredibly sad, but I always hide my feels because I have to be the strong one to hold everyone else together. There are still days, 3 years later. I pick up th phone to call my mom only to remember, she won't be answering the phone. Today, for the first time I let all that pain process. Not that it's gone, it will be with me till the day I die. But it's not bottled up ready to exoplode anymore. I'll see you again Mom. 💜

Lost my mom to cancer last year when I was 19, I'm still in college. This song really speaks to me because after she passed, it's like I became a different person. My grades started slipping, I started sleeping around and getting into alcohol and drugs. Things I never would have done before. I just wish I would have been able to talk to her one last time, because chemo really messed her head up in her last days. My flight back home was late and she passed while I was on the plane, every day I think about what I could have done differently to show her that I loved her because I never had the chance. When I heard this song in the car, I started bawling, the first time I've cried since she passed. It might sound cheesy, but I've been listening to Imagine Dragons religiously since I was in elementary school, and this is the one that really has inspired me to turn my behavior around, because I know what I'm doing isn't what she would have wanted. I miss you, mom. Thank you, Imagine dragons, for inspiring me my whole life.

This song came out right after he died… one of his favorite artists came out with this right after he died. Almost made me feel like he was trying to tell me something.. This is one of those "come to mama" moments. I wish I could wrap my arms around you. Do not listen to people who tell you to get over it! They've never felt your grief! Cherish those great memories. They keep us going.🥰 I'm an old woman who's lost far too many far too young. The grief process was different with every passing so I can't offer a quick grief process solution as some think we should. Take care Sweetie

Alisha Reynolds, Dan's Sister-in-law died from Cancer, on a interview he say she was a light in the darkness, bringing joy everywhere she goes and every person she cross by, in my personal experiences I have lost 3 love ones against Cancer, leaving a void in my heart, first was one of my paternal uncles, second my elder brother and third my maternal uncle, others died from either Parkinson (Paternal Uncle), Covid-19 (My grandmother) and a rare illness (Another paternal uncle), this was one by one on a short lapse of time, leaving me with no chance of mourn those lost!! so I feel sorry for Dan, Cancer is a hell of a Sickness!!! Edit: Also, Love how he is going to the microphone to sing with the band but, he is so sad that he just can't sing and go away to clear his mind going to the beach to get the acceptance that she is not around, just those memories he has of her!!!
