I remember when I first got a voice teacher, this was the first song he helped me learn to sing. I was so proud of myself for being to hold out on some of those long notes. Now, 4-ish years later, I’ve been in chorus for 3.5 years, and those notes are barely an inconvenience anymore. This song will always hold a special place in my heart as the first song I’d ever had to memorize.

O meu ano começa e essa música entra como um abraço, gentil, uma "dor que cura". Essa é a sensação. Tenho quase 28 anos, estou no trabalho, escuto essa música. Começo a chorar. Lembro da minha mãe, vó que faleceram quando eu tinha 9 anos, elas davam tudo por mim. Lembro do meu vô e pai que faleceram em 2014, lembro de amigos que do nada, também me deixaram. "Pássaros voam em diferentes direções", "I hope to see you again". Sem palavras para completar. Busco uma escuta em looping, trabalho enquanto sinto esse abraço, que me dá vontade de continuar. Espero que essa música continue sendo vista para mais pessoas em 2024.

E com certeza continuará sendo. Hoje, refletindo mais sobre a música (tinha um tempo que não via o clipe), pensei nas asas que nossos entes nos dão. Essas asas são aquelas que nos seguram nas tempestades e nos mantém livres para nossas escolhas. As vezes, negamos o que somos porque caçoam disso. Nos acham fracassados. Mas as asas continuam em nós, com o mesmo poder. Sinto muito pelos seus familiares que partiram. Esperança nunca deve ser uma palavra em vão. Em 2024 que o seu coração te traga esse abraço e essa paz. Suas asas ecoam (e fazem lembrar) o que há de melhor neles em você.
