Thank you for the great lesson. I’m interested to try the provisioning method on a laptop that already has been used by someone. Once the new version of Windows gets upgraded, would it include the previous user’s profile, event logs, etc. Fun!
@examlabpractice4 ай бұрын
Yes, upgrades retain all the stuff you mentioned involving the user

The size of the picture is the problem..
@examlabpractice4 ай бұрын
That’s odd. It’s the exact same size as all the past ones. That must be a udemy issue. Can you send me a screenshot of what it looks like in the email? If you can’t send it on KZfaq here, message me through udemy. Thanks!

I am wondering if AutoPilot also upgrade the Windows home to Windows Pro.

Unfortunately it does not. Must be pro or higher or an education edition

Does the provisioning know to change the SID?
@examlabpractice4 ай бұрын
It shouldn’t be as necessary going forward anymore, however with provisioning if it was absolutely something you need to do, you can still use a sysprep script in conjunction with provisioning and that can be automated. Keep in mind, Microsoft is slowly trying to ween people off using Active Directory domains and move people into Entra ID. As a consultant, I am well aware of how many companies are still using domains.. so yeah I see how this is an important question and why you’re asking, but it’s important to keep an eye on where they are prodding companies to go. One thing they aren’t doing is improving the security of domains anymore. That is a sure fire way to force companies to start the move whether they like it or now.

What is the difference between imaging and provisioning? A SUBSCRIPTION FEE - Every month or every year perpetually... I also have been deploying, supporting & teaching since the early 90s. I'm not advocating my customers becoming Microsoft's bitch ... The conversion to an HCI deployment costs them less & I make more. I'm not serving customers up to become indebted to Microsoft who is replacing us....

I don't disagree with you. I only worry about how long the old ways will be allowed to be kept alive in a "supported" Microsoft environment. Microsoft is prodding people in the direction of cloud/subscriptions as fast as a they can. It's important to know the traditional ways of doing things, but it's also very important to learn the newer ways. A lot of IT people aren't the decision makers on which way a company goes on supporting resources.. Sometimes, you either learn the new ways, or you lose your job.
