The original voice actor was fired because he asked to get paid for his work. Originally he did it for free since he was a Gearbox exec but no one would agree to terms over payment later on and in subsequent games. Supposedly this all culminated into a point where the VA approached Randy Pitchford, the Borderlands head honcho, and challenged him about his deceptive behavior which included siphoning millions from the employee royalty pool and when he did that while trying to get paid for his work he was allegedly assaulted and has not worked as the VA since.

I mean, all 3 have a very similar genre of story. Criminals that are messed up mentally or have done messed up things get together and have to work together to save the world. This movie mainly will hinge on it's characters and if they're endearing or not. Hopefully, it will be able to accomplish that.

@@Dead-fire I think regardless of whether you're a fan of the games, it's just not a good trailer. The jokes are lame and the dialogue feels dated. The CGI is ok at best and there are just so many cringy scenes. Even excluding the fact that it almost completely ignores the source material, i just can't imagine how this succeeds based on the trailer

Ngl to me as someone who liked the first and second game it looks terrible. Giving off "How do you do fellow kids?" vibes with the comedy. Plus the casting choices don't make sense for most of the characters except maybe Tannis and Tina. Kevin Hart doesn't fit Roland at all, he is a short comedian meanwhile Roland was always serious and focused, Kate Blanchett is 20 years too old for the character she is playing and Jack Black doesn't sound remotely convincing as a good Claptrap. All of these are great actors but they do not fit the role in any aspect. The only thing I can give it credit for is how the world looks and how they nailed the aesthetic and rabid culture of Pandora. It just seems like the people in charge want to work with their favorite actors with little regard to how they fit the role and the quality of the movie.

I agree with what you said about Kevin Hart he doesn't fit Roland at all but I do think Cate Blanchett could be a good Lilith. I also think Jack Black is gonna be hilarious as Claptrap, hopefully.

The reasonit feels like a "hello fellow kids" movie, is cause it's one of the generic misunderstood criminal to hero and his ragtag crew movies that we usually saw in like 2010s. We enjoyed it as kids, but as adults it doesn't feel the same

In my personal opinion it looks fun, like not really accurate and honestly very odd but in effect it looks like some shit that woulda got a better reception if it wasnt borderlands. But im not the biggest borderlands fan in the world or the biggest critic so ill prolly enjoy it but itl be okay. Edit: thought james gun was part of this, am a bit more skeptical now

If you don’t have the creativity to create, don’t destroy original content from a whole different form of entertainment to try and make it a movie.
