It’s terrible that you had to witness that tragedy. And I know it sounds cliché, but I feel everything does happen for a reason. I realize that he paid the ultimate price, but hopefully his bad fortune brought enlightenment and awareness to the people involved after processing the accident. I lost my best friend 20 years ago. it still bugs me today. plus 1 other. It keeps my hed in the game when I am on my bike. I mean it even got Badkitty. No one is immune to reality.

I stopped riding in groups because of that.. I stopped trying to bond with other men after the military... Make a friend.. they die

The brain is an amazing thing. It's not that your brain didn't see it. It was that your brain didn't let you see it. When my son was killed, my brain compartmentalized everything, every little detail. And allowed me to "see it" when it felt I could. It fed the info of everything, from being at the hospital until he was buried/interred (he was cremated), in small amounts so I could process it a little at a time. Our brains do this so we don't crash psychologically, from the weight of it all. And by the time you see the whole picture, you are in a stronger, not in shock, kind of place.... So by the time I was going back to work, which was 2 weeks after he was killed. And yeah that's messed up but I was told I'd lose my job if I didn't come back, yes that boss was a j&$K. But about a month or so after I was strong enough and angry enough to go get his autopsy report and read every single page of it, and then get a lawyer. Our brains are amazing, amazing machines, that do their best to care for us in so many ways..... I'm truly sorry you saw that, went through that. But I'm glad you're in a better place to be able to share it..... Much love D and a big hug as well!!!!
