Definitely gives me more confidence in building my first tank. I was very new and simply built a box to fit everything in with a 12" exhaust. It works well but didn't reduce the sound as much as I hoped. I have been bouncing the idea around and seeing the past two videos, I'm pretty confident I can do it now. Probably will have 2 tanks, 1 for my 5GPUs and 1 for my 2 BTC miners.

Nice design and great job adding in a bypass loop for the final iteration. You may want to look into enclosing the entire inner/ outer box portion as open-loop systems (such as cooling towers for commercial buildings, etc.) are notoriously subject to impurity build-up and can, over time, cause corrosion to your equipment. I think it may be simple enough to add a sealed lid to the outer box and thus creating a seudo-closed-loop system. Also have you considered designing this without a basin (outer box) and just pipe the heated water out directly from the bottom of the tank? You would need to install an expansion tank on the suction line as well as an air-separtor but I think this would be a bit more professional and you can basically just lookup a closed loop chilled water system schematic to get an idea of how to lay this out.

Nice mkII design. Watch out for bubbling and air entrainment when the hot liquid falls out of the first box and into the second box. Try keeping a laminar flow rate, and angle the sides of the upper box slightly so the liquid "slides" into the lower box, rather than "falling" into it. Lastly, if possible the bottom of the upper box should be insulated from the liquid of the bottom box. If not, the heat in the lower box will naturally transfer to bottom of the upper box.

Ball valves yes on both sides of the pump, but also Unions on both sides of the pump for easy removal and maintanence... essentially ball valve > union > pump < union < ball valve. ensures that minimal liquid is lost during maintance needs.

Pause - you love in Florida, so this is more than applicable. You need to seal your system fluids to avoid evaporation though more importantly, condensation. Many of the immersion designs can achieve high flow which masks the issue of condensation by continuously mixing moisture into the fluids, but, if you have a dead spot, an eddy current, you might start to see pearls of water bubbles at the lowest point. Obviously, water conducts electricity and shorts out electronics. Seal the system, consider a ball valve drain at the lowest point.

Great vid, really enjoying the journey you are on. You mentioned that the pump should be lower than the tank, but in the final design it looks higher? For drainage and to help prime the pump you might want to flip the pipe coming out of the hot tank so its under the tank not on top of it.

I have a quick question in your immersion cooling rig how much vibration does the entire unit create, I was thinking of putting it above an office in an attic space and didn't know if the vibration would transfer and become a nuisance to the office below? someone probably already explained two things in the design at the end of the presentation one - there is no positive pressure for the pump in this design, put it all on legs and put a port near the bottom of the outer tank that drops to the pump two and I see this in many designs, don't let the miner tank share a wall with the "hotter liquid" or recovery tank. it will just help to heat up the cooler liquid and of course the coolest' liquid is at the bottom of the inner tank, in your later design. push the bottom of the outer tank up so the level stays high and that may allow for the aforementioned, higher than the pump port

Where did you get the container that your using or how did you make it and what material did you use/

you should have taken all your hints from hydronic heating system design and put in isolator flanges, they bolt up to that pump and make it much less messy to replace a pump WHEN [not if] it fails. Also, rubber is quite fragile in a chemical sense, throw away the rubber seals and replace with PTFE. Avoid threaded connections whenever possible, soldered, glued and crimped connections will basically last forever without leaking. Also, add a sediment filter to protect the whole system, but specifically protect the pump and rad from any foreign schmoo that could clog it and reduce performance.

Hey Nicholas, awesome Video. I have a question. I trying to run my cooling system with ThermaSafe RTM High Performance Dielectric Heat Transfer Fluid from DCX. I use Bitmain Antminer Z15. how do you solve the problem that the thermal paste between the CPU chip and the cooling module is attacked? I heard that you can use some kind of metal foil. Iridium. Can you please say something about that?

One more recommendation put two valves one of each sides of the pump. If the pump needs to get replaced you have basically zero lost liquid.

Also forgot to mention that having the free flowing water fall design may cause a lot of entrained air bubbles in the coolant (this is common in water but I don't know the properties of the coolant you're using), this may corrode/ pit and damage the pump as the bubbles basically implode when they reach the pump impeller where pressure dramatically rises. On that note, also be caution of designing with enough suction line pressure (look up NPSHa) or you can cause cavitation of the pump. Hope this helps!

Hey, awesome videos, I love watching the progression/trial & error! Outta curiosity how loud is that *recommended* pump compared to the wrong red centrifugal one you bought at first?

Have you thought about just replacing the heatsinks on the hash boards with a forced liquid heat exchanger (maybe just water through an aluminium block) and quick connects. Use a standard radiator and pump. Not weird dielectrics and a big bath. Basically like a car cooling system.

Always install barrel unions on parts that you'll commonly need to remove or infrequently replace. Ie. Both sides of pump. Will save a lot of pipe and fittings and makes future replacements/modifications a breeze. How do you keep the dielectric fluid clean if in open air? Maybe consider putting in a small Y strainer before the pump. Also how is the copper to PVC plumbed? I haven't done any before - resin or glue? Otherwise very interesting :)

When you use immersion cooling you have also lower power consumption on basic settings? Is is possible to save few % of power consumption? My asic will consume 3154w I want to use immersion cooling, and I want downgrade power consumption to 3000w, is it possible?

Can you please give a detail like what kind of pump n radiator you’re using?

Only issue I can see is you need to have allowed the correct height in Box 1(inner) & 2(outer) for the thermal expansion of the dielectric fluid because you will need the level in Box 1 to be at least as full as the level of your pump suction pipework otherwise you will airlock and lose the prime of the pump(centrifugal pumps are not self-priming). If you are cycling this miner, then you'll either need to have a taller Box 1 or shorter suction pipework so you don't have to constantly monitor the fluid level in Box 1. Personally I would also be concerned of aerating the fluid as it waterfalls from Box 1 into box 2, maybe just allow for a taller Box 2(maybe matching or close to the height of Box 1) with holes drilled into the top of Box 1 to allow a smoother transition of flow between boxes. You will just need a larger volume of dielectric fluid.

You should add some inline filters into your new system.

that is cool as hell. i realize this is an older video, but... some thoughts. on the tank you curently have, i belive i would want the seperation wall betweent he hot and cold sides to be a deadcell, even double or tripple pane, as (you may already have realized) the design of the outflow take exposes your cool side to heat. now the flow of the system makes so that dosent mater so much. still seems inefficient. as for your new tak design, seems like you accounted for A LOT of things that you learned from this experience. though my very first though would be what orientation this pair of mining units are going to be in, as if they are laying down, then i would want the outflow to be inline with their outports instead of 360 degrees. though if they are standing up then it wont mater. all in all this seems like a really cool project, and the concept will work well for what im planning.

It looks like you didn't mount the control board to the handle provided by EF. Instead you placed it in between the rails where the PSU was attracted originally. Can you share why you did it this way?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't EF put out a video about flipping the power supply for reasons you mentioned? I know I saw something about that somewhere, if not EF.

"Spoofers" are just resistors. They put a load on the 12v or 5v line the fans use, thus the miner thinks the fans are running. A bit of solder and 50 cents in resistors would do this job.

What type of fan are you using to cool the radiator? What cfm, rpm, and watts is it? If you could give me a link for that it would be much appreciated. Thanks have a great day!

I don't understand the 200k BTU either, but I was hoping to see better temps :( 200k BTU in a calculator is like 50+ kw of heat (again I have no idea how the thermal thing works) - that S19 is using how many watts? 4000w/4kw?

You need a failsafe relay to trip off... so when your mag pump fails and they do... you don't boil your 12k miner.

Have you or you going to try one of those sound proof boxes for ASIC?
