Rest up until race day. Sleep as much as you can. Start the race conservatively and you'll do it. I've done 2 sub 3s (2:56, 2:54) - the training is done and you'll do it. Best of luck.

That’s the plan! Thank you!!!

Congrats on the PR! 3:08:56 is still a very solid marathon time!

Good luck on Sunday. Stay disciplined and run conservatively in the front half. You are in 2:56 shape!!!

I’m in a similar boat as you. Was going to target 2:57 but picked up a small hip niggle in the last two weeks. I’m thinking about doing my last “dress rehearsal run” today and then resting until an easy 2 on Saturday to stretch the legs

Pretty similar plan. I’m resting until the shakeout and then will see how I’m feeling on race day.

Hoping you feel better for Sunday man. My wife is and youngest son are sick right now, hoping I’m spared 😂 See you Saturday morning for the shakeout

Let’s hope so! And hopefully you stay healthy!

Ahh Joshua, my taper has been poor as well, dealing with some leg pain, but we will push through. Was hoping to join the shakeout but won't be in town that early. Have fun, see you at the start. Sub 3 or bust!

Sir…..I am a “Philadelphian”; Saturday is the half marathon and Rotham 8k race. It is going to be hard to run from city hall to the Art museum steps. Hard but doable!!!!!!! ✨🙏🏼✨

Same, I was thinking the same thing. Half Marathon and 8K will be going on at 10am

The Saturday before NYC I got a small cold. Mostly just felt run down. I took the week off. By the time I left for NY I felt fine but I do wonder if it did affect my heartrate in the race. Who knows. Feel better soon and good luck.

I’m wondering the same thing about my HR for this race. Hope NYC went well for you!

@@joshuaxruns Well. NO. 😆. I finished 40 minutes off my PR. But it was a great experience and I'd highly recommend you go run it someday. Crowds are absolutely wild. 1.5 million spectators

Getting sick during the taper is something that is quite common. Nothing to worry about
@joshuaxruns7 ай бұрын
Haha yea it seems so. Thank you!

I watched ur last half marathon you def need to get around 1:25ish in order for you to run comfortable sub3 mate ! Also do tracks once a wk - also another high intensity tempo the following 6-8MI then more miles 8-10ml during the wk! weekends 15-18MI LFG !!!
@joshuaxruns7 ай бұрын
Yea the half tune up was more just to feel how things were. I didn’t want to push myself too hard but you live and you learn. Next time I will adjust.

Did you follow a generic plan? Or do you have a personal coach? Doing marathon in Scotland where I live in May 2024 and hoping to go sub-3 also. All the best at Phil. Great to see how you get on.

I followed a purchased plan from Greg McMillan on the app final surge. Still generic but not as generic as a free plan.

The schedule was only a plan, plans change. Good luck, run fast!

My dad was an elite marathoner and got the flu one year about a week before the Boston marathon, so he didn’t run for over a week before the marathon and ended up running his best time ever
