Right! The siyahs are so thin! I appreciated your explanations and descriptions. My experience with AF thus far has been fantastic. Thank you for sharing this video 🙏🏼🫵🙂

Understandably, it's a highly mass produced company. There are bow failures but AF standby their product and have no issue claiming warranty. For the price, absolutely great value

🤣 yeah, when you've seen thousands of boring, even sometimes trash bow sock, suddenly gets one that's just completely different species. AF actually has an existing blue-gold premium bow sock, but the inside fabric is cheap material. So definitely a leap in quality on this shipment.

Impressed by your attitude and care for details, I like that. On this bow: I have an Buck Trail Haik, which is exactly the same as yours (except the split), even the blurry fiberglas. It's sold by an korean company, but I was already suspicious this model is mass produced for many companies- I also have one from huntingdoor china, and beside the black fiberglas/split bow version it's also nearly the same. I cannot confirm twist issue, might differ a bit in production, and I love both bows, superb precision and the huntingdoor I use weekly, in ever weather, every temperature. It's robust- but mine is only 24lbs, that might make a difference for the twist problem. Do you know if AF is just another reseller or is this the one really producing this models ? I am just wondering if at the end all comes from the same chinese factory- a factory with a superior bow designer that I don't know his name yet.

@@bambooarchery thanks Bamboo Archery! So indeed AF? I googled for their bowmaker, but there‘s no name..I watch out for one, may be Armin Hirmer or so drops it. I guess industrial bowmaking is very different from my homebrew bows, but I might still able to learn from them some things, as why a certain siyah is choosen, or shape/performance etc. it‘s so complex!

I just bought a bow with this exact same takedown mechanism, it's 50lbs which scares me as I have heard takedowns are never as strong and the steel inserts concentrate all the shock in the limb fadeouts near the handle. Thinking of adding whipping in that location to reinforce it. Are blowouts more common with high poundage takedowns in your experience?
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
The part where you mention about concentrating shock is completely false. That's not how shock work, in fact the heavy weight of steel help dampens and reduce shock. The fades are equally likely to fail with or without takedown. The reason why takedown is less reliable has to do with the wood in which the steel digs into. The steel itself will the fine, but the wood that has thinned out when the hole was drilled is what weakens the wood. The stress will eventually rip the steel out of the wood. I would normally advise against high poundage takedown. But since you already have it, just use it and not worry. There's nothing you can do to improve it. If it breaks, get a warranty at a lower poundage.

@@bambooarchery is 45 good for a takedown, what is your reccomendation?
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery 4 ай бұрын
@@leblblb 45# is considered on the high side for a takedown. While it would work, especially if you have a short drawlength, I'll add that risk will generally increase. Usually for takedown, I'm more comfortable up to 40#. Whereas if durability is top priority, then one-piece is definitely the way to go.

How does the handshock on the AF Tatar compare to the AF Sicai? I'm debating between the two

You don't have to debate on that cause the AF Tatar Takedown has been discontinued. So you can only get the Sicai model.

hello good sir. First of all, thank you for al your video's you are posting. I was wondering, is there any difference in hand shock between the regular AF Tatar and the take down? I still haven't made up my mind on which one to order
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery 7 ай бұрын
Yes, there is. The additional weight in the handle does reduce the shock. But reach out to me either through WhatsApp or Facebook if you want a better and more reliable version. Takedown has its own issue with reliability. So we are in the process of working with AF for our own exclusive version where we fix known issues like that.

When did you receive the bow? Right now AF has the Tatar take down with different string bridges on their website.
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
I made the video immediately when I received it. The video says it's 5 months old. The one in my video was a premium version. Now they made a simpler version which is just the tatar oak + takedown. AF is known to always change things without notifying, often times not in a favorable way. The recent Sicai also lost the integrated bridges.

0:49 ...are you saying "Bow Sock" o?? Does this Bow sock , wick moisture away from the bow. ?? Are they thermal Socks ??
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
Generally, the bow sock is for protecting against minor scratches during storage and handling. But this one is thicker and feels better padded than most. The fleece inside is able to minimize abrupt temperature changes, but I won't bet on moisture wicking. If the bow got wet, wipe & dry it before storing. Otherwise, the bow sock would smell and you'll have to wash it 🤣

How does that compare to more expensive tartars like Vegh, Simon Bow or Paragon? Is it worth to spend more on these brands?
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I've seen and heard Vegh with a lot of broken bows in Malaysia, and it's far more expensive than AF. You're buying the reputation of Peter Bogar, who is the ambassador of Vegh, but not the actual bowyer himself. Simon had little to no success here, and as far as I know, limited success globally as well. I've heard good things about Paragon. But it's not cheap and I haven't yet encountered one here. Value alone, it's hard to beat AF. Not even Mariner or Yuwen. AF is the undisputed bow of value. It will outperform pretty much every competitor you can name. If a brand doesn't have any specific thing that makes them special, I'd pick an AF over them easily. For example, Mariner have better grip ergonomics, smoother draw, less shock, better quality control; Spearman is extremely stable, durable, and efficient. If between Nawalny and AF, I'd pick AF 100% of the time. Everyone should try an AF bow at least once to establish what is for me considered the minimum level of a good/acceptable bow.

@@bambooarchery a more neck and neck comparison with 2 competitors would be alibow tartar bow. I’m sure many of your customers would be conflicted whether to buy AF or Alibow
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
@@pyramid_scheme_termination3655 I had been very vocal about Alibow. They had scammed us in the past, and other dealers as well. It is not a company that I would risk my money on anymore. I do not have any faith in their service. My case with Alibow, long story short, after 1-2 years of back and forth trying to get my refund, we agreed on exchanging the amount for equivalent value in arrows. Even though Alibow quoted much higher price for the arrows than market price, but I still agreed and based the agreed sum of arrows as according to Alibow quoted value. It was some equivalent of 1350 pieces of arrows (based on Ali quote). They only shipped me 800 pieces of arrows, that's all. They don't even ask or tell me anything. I noticed something wasn't right and counted the arrows. When I asked what happened to our agreement, ZhangLi the owner of Alibow told me to just assume the 800 arrows considered as settlement for the 1350 arrows, because he doesn't want to upset the board of directors. End of story, I never gotten my full refund value, or equivalent value that was agreed upon. That's just my part of the story, you haven't even heard the horrors from other ali ex-dealers. So yeah, got bitten once, no way am I going to buy from them ever again.
@bambooarchery
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
@@pyramid_scheme_termination3655 AF used to have far more quality issues but they stood by their products every single time. And today they still do, the customer service, business ethics is consistent since the beginning. Alibow on the other hand, used to make better bows but when there's issue, it's a headache for us dealers. I got faulty bows right out the box and never used, returned it to him as according to the negotiated terms, but never gotten the full refund that was promised. The whole ordeal took 1-2 years that I decided to just write off my losses cause I see no end to it. Other ex-dealers had it worse, ali broke their agreements, didn't send them warranty bows etc. I'm scared to death putting any money on their products. Some customers complained that the product got lost in shipment, and Ali didn't send them any replacement either. Money burned with no bow to show at all. For such an established and big company that makes hundreds of thousands of bows yearly, they won't even bother to help out.
