In this video, I feature some footage from two of my members - Bob and Rex with King Rex electric.
They share their experience with one of the most overlooked tweaks in Audiophile industry... dedicated lines and isolation transformer.
I also share what worked in my system, but the macro takeaway is that there is no universal solution for everyone. You must ask the right questions and have the expertise to choose the right option for your issues, if any.
The important thing is to never listen to knee jerk advice from people who don't ask the right questions and even apply measurements to confirm any issues.

I just received my new panel and sub-panel from Rex, and am about to install them. Rex was great to deal with, and clearly cares deeply about what he does. I can't wait to get it all hooked up.

Yeah that makes so much sense. Many people forget to think about the impact on energy before it reaches the audio gear.

Wow that was an eye opener! I'm building myself a house and thought lets put in some isolated ground receptacles in and were done... nope! was going with an Eaton copper panel because using mixed metals create electrolysis. how awesome that sound quality is improved as well. I'm off grid on a solar system using OutBack gear so I've got clean power. redoing my wiring diagram to include more dedicated lines. was already going with 10 gauge copper lines to lower voltage drop and heat/resistance. Rex is an absolute gold mine! Thank you guys so much.

After years of trying different power solutions I ended up with an isolation transformer providing the best results on my dedicated lines. My amps are plugged directly into the wall. I definitely want to look at these sub panels in the future

This is good advice. I have a dedicated line. My audio room is underground. I have old Audio Power industry Power Wedge conditioners. I also use Transparent reference and reference XL cables. So I thought I would upgrade to a current European model that has gotten rave reviews. The unit made my system worse. The dynamics were squelched. I will continue to use my old Power Wedge Conditioners which seem to work very well with my system.

Thanks for sharing. A similar standard presentation on grounding would be helpful.

Please consider adding links to the other 4 part series you did with Rex and the series with Rex at Fremmers, PLUS your own videos with power conditioners, noise suppressors, and other tweaks. You could not only save people a lot of heartache, money, but also provide some firm understanding of what route to go and why, because if anyone does the copper sub panel and then moved, that investment won't be recovered, or if someone just buys a conditioner that's all the rave, that's maybe no bueno either. You probably have 8- 10 comprehensive videos that cover all the pit falls, and things to watch/listen for before going either route. Simple seasoned Diy'er things I got from your videos was checking and cleaning my copper ground rod, proper grounding, where to use Deoxit, panel wiring symmetry or optimization. Identitying if I have copper or copper cladded aluminum wire. Thank God I have copper. I can for sure tell you that you saved me some real money and helped me spend it where it counts.

Let me share three experiences. First, I’ve had an Audio Research LS10 fail due to having a different voltage from the Oppo205 connected via interconnects. The different voltage potential between the two units has caused a component in the LS10 to fail. We believe. The unit has to go from Australia back to the USA for repair. Second example. This morning. I use simple adaptors on my USA power cables to connect to the Australian wall outlets here. This adapter kept sparking outside the body of the adapter. Despite all the surfaces being flush connected. This points to a faulty internal design or manufacture. The connector bars inside have too much free play. And consequently arc. At 230V. Damn! I threw it away. I’m going to throw all such adapters in my house away. You cannot afford to underestimate the complexity and dangers of electronics and electrical power systems. Did I say I was the lead investigator to prosecute Telstra for a case of employee electrocution? Boiled his blood at 400V. He walked away…and fully recovered. He was rather lucky.

Do you have a dedicated line for every piece of gear you have? If one has a turntable, phono, streamer, dac, preamp, amp and two subs.. how many lines would you suggest?

Nevermind. You pretty much answered it. I'm still a little confused on how to separate gear. Some say amps and subs should all be on the same line to avoid ground loop. Some do everything separate. The biggest issue for most is finding an electrician who doesn't think we are crazy.

The local sub panel ends up giving you a ground for all the dedicated lines to minimize ground loops

How much $$$ ?

It will depend on your needs and custom selection of certain things. I would budget less than $5k unless you have extreme needs. Probably closer to $3k.
