I could watch these paintovers all day, I feel they're often even more useful than actual tutorials.

I was having an art block and hadn't drawn in weeks... This helped me so much .. I will surely go back to drawing

lovely to see the principles at work! I do feel however that some of the changes altered the storytelling/emotive quality of the pieces so I think that aspect is important to keep in mind too. For example, I might choose to keep the brush-strokes of the cliffs (around 2:00 mins) but clean up the robot, thus keeping the emotive quality that is implied. The lighting of the wrestling (around 4:08 mins) was definitely much improved as it clarifies the focal point. The final painting however, the clean up sacrifices the barren wasteland for a modern city with all the road-building. I wonder if there was any way to clean up the "messiness" without changing the subject matter ?
