I went online to look for a kayak dolly for my cuda 12. As you know it's a heavy beast. Definitely didn't want to spend $150 for a dolly. Im so glad I found this video. Thank you

@@KayakhacksFishing Still using my C-tug. The feature I like the most, besides ease of use, is that it breaks-down and I can stow it in the bow beneath the hatch. The downside of course is the cost. I've also broken two of the kickstands due to my negligence, and at roughly $20 each I'm now much more careful. 🤔

Excellent, Dick! I think the front PVC cross-piece could also be cut narrow enough to fit exactly where you’d want it for best balance and easier pulling!

Nice cart, but yours has three big advantages over his! 1. Yours is cheaper and simpler 2. Yours takes up much less space in your vehicle 3. Yours can be stowed on your kayak if desired, eliminating TWO round trips back to your vehicle each fishing trip. This can be a big deal if you park far from your launch spot.

👍 . Nice diy cart, SGM. Maybe find some 1/8" sheet rubber and cut strips to glue onto the boards that the hull rests on. The rubber may/should prevent the kayak from sliding on the wood. Also, I'd get a pool noodle and cut lengths to place on the upright pvc pieces that rest against the sides of the hull. Nice, tight fit, and possibly prevent side sway while transporting to/from the water. You know I have to throw in my ideas. ;)

Go to 2.1 (the front horizontal PVC can be a tad shorter to avoid having to shape the vertical PVC, assuming the elbows can accommodate the delta)

Howdy from Texas! I just subscribed. Brainstorming off your ideas. I’m trying to design a cart that lifts kayak side handles from above, crane style, may need 4 wheels, then I won’t have to lift kayak.. can roll to water and lower it also 🤔. Haven’t seen all your videos but love the hacks. I make almost everything from scrap material also. Thanks for sharing all your ideas.🎣. God Bless

We only have to use it at this one launch where we have to go across sand... maybe 50 yards to the shore. It is on private property, so we just leave the carts with the permission of the owner.

It should work just fine as long as you put it in the center of the kayak. It would balance and perform like other carts.

Why even use the Boonedox? I UT Boonedox on mine but my yak is till to heavy to roll by myself. I bought some wheeleez and it moves around like a charm for me. I can actually tool my cruise fd around with 3 fingers. Wish I hadn’t bought the Boonedox!

I wish I could have installed the boonedox more in the middle instead of at the back. The rear was the onlyl place I could reinforce it to counteract the heavy weight of the Coosa FD

@@KayakhacksFishing I enjoy your videos. I'm thinking about adding the attached wheels in back like the kayak shows and I seen your response to the above question (trinacria1956). Why is the kayak so heavy? Due to added equipment or the weight of the kayak its self? I'm getting an Oldtown 106 pdl and I'm thinking the boonedox landing gear would work on this. I'm 67 and hoping I don't have too much trouble lifting it. I don't plan on adding much other than a seat and a cup holder. Take care.
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 2 жыл бұрын
@@oldbird299 Yes, the kayak itself is really heavy. It weighs 107 lbs! Your PDL only weighs 76 lbs. If you take out the pedal drive when you transport, it will be even lighter.

Kayak Hacks Fishing I finished the trailer yesterday; now I have to build the hitch part that attaches the kayak to the bicycle. I used a golf cart bag dolly. Now I built mine then discovered others had already thought the same thing. That’s okay; it just means; it must be a pretty good idea. I think mine looks and follows better. Theo other guys are pulling their kayak with a bike either.

Hard on your back as the kayak looks like it has to ride pretty horizontal, thus forcing you to stoop over.

Yes, we needed to offset the rear mount. The Coosa is too heavy to put the boonedox in the middle where it would naturally balance. Hence, the need for a front cart.

too much work for no benefit. A straight and wide board with a wheeled axle bolted on can be strapped on the bottom of the boat. And attach a rope at front. Balance the boat over the axle to make pulling it easy.
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 4 жыл бұрын
The issue with that is the board will rotate sideways. That's the problem I have with Cart 1.0 and it is stabilized to prevent that with the ropes thru the scuppers and an end to end. But, it still pivots.
