Your vids are very indepth. Just what I like. Have you made a comparison between before and after performance? Or has this grown from the urge to perfect your car as much as possible, which is part of the racing spirit.

Thanks for commenting and watching. It is easier to tell the difference between a lightened gear and a normal gear when you are running a very lightweight car in the first place. I am sure wing car racers really notice the difference. The heavier the car in the first place, the less difference it will make, but it does make a difference, especially with acceleration and brakes.

Love these tech video's. It's also possible to use that tool on an angled gear? Cause the center aluminium part is much smaller in these kind of gears?

I actually have 2 sizes of tool for different diameters. The one in the video is the largest and I have not used the smaller one on any gears yet!

gears with alum center is risky...you cant heat the car otherwise will demage the gear...i think balancing the gear is enouth by drilling a few points near the pivot ..

The plastic on this type of gear can withstand a lot of heat before it is damaged. Heat from drilling does not distort the plastic gear.

How is the balance after the mods ?

Good question, thanks. The balance was only changed very slightly after drilling the holes. I will go into more details about balancing in a future video 👍🏻

@@CleaveTech Please dont say you use razor blades and an axle to balance your rotating parts. I can balance my rotating parts down to 0.001g.cm

No, I don’t use razor blades to balance gears and wheels. Wheel and gear balance is not as critical as armature balance. I use Dave Harvey and Wow O Won slot racing for all my armature balancing.

@@CleaveTech Ask them if they can get down to 0.001g.cm on their arms or any rotating part for that matter. Its a lot easier than you think to do it yourself.
