Күн бұрынWe attended the Goodwood Festival of Speed today and headed straight to the BMW M stand for the world premiere of the new G90 M5!
Our first time seeing the car in the metal, and I have to say I've come away impressed, and I can't wait for our car to arrive in a few months. Certainly a few changes we'll be making!
We were lucky enough to be right next to Franciscus van Meel as he discussed the latest M5, and then Imran offers his initial thoughts too.

Coming from an rs6 c8 owner (2200kg) i would still take this new m5. My rs6 weighs the same as this m5 when my mrs is in my car, so really would not make much difference anyway, Beautiful car.

Yet people were surprised how good the c63 moves around and you can't really feel the extra mass. Go watch the latest car magazine video on it, the let down with the c63 is the 4cyl and not the mass, this m5 will have no such issues.

@redchristy the only appealing part of the new C63 is how much faster it is compared to the last one. The new M5 isn't faster than the last. Disappointing no matter what.

The G81 M3 is more than adequate for me. The new M5 is more akin to a 7 series luxury saloon. The M5 should have been lighter and faster than the previous generations.

I really struggle to see how they will be able to disguise the enormous weight, and how it will be on our narrow bumpy roads. Interesting that there will be no Competition version, although a CS hasn't been ruled out.

Despite all the negative comments: i do like it! It looks like it should --> a sporty business limousine (it is not supposed to be a race car) Of course the weight is crazy compared to previous versions, but the typical M5 owner does not care because it's DNA is to be fast & comfy on the Autobahn

@@moStallion Not really. This is still a monster of car, and the 550i typically got skipped for the M5, I plan on doing the same of going 540i to M5.

@@ii_dynasty 540i is perfect in terms of power and fuel consumption also weight distribution is better than the m5 due to it having a lighter nose. If you modify it correctly. It'll be a baby m5 for real

I loved this car from the jump to be honest. My only gripe is that wait. I wish they just used lighter and possibly weaker batteries and just tune up the S68. Assuming the S68 is the same as it's predecessor (S63) it alone should be able to handle 727hp and 1000nm of torque. But hey I'm not the expert

Was at FOS today (Thursday).. sat in the black M5.. lovely interior seats but other than that didn't feel special enough.. would definitely opt for that Yellow paint work. Keep up the great work guys!

It's really finding out how much the trans can hold. The G90 v8 should be able to put out 700hp on its own and with the additional 200hp from the electric motor.

Amazing car, as expected BMW have made it aggressive and I love that it’s a wider body. BTW, no one got the colour right not even the M CEO. It’s frozen ‘DEEP’ grey as I have on my M4Cx, not dark or black.

Ok, kinda like the design look, but still holding back until real world testing is done. I would rather have all motor with a turbo/supercharger. Not crazy about the additional weight of battery and electric motor which raises more maintenance/repair/replacement/cost concerns. We'll see.

Way too heavy, should've had at least 900+hp. To beat the amg gt63 s hybrid with its 831hp.. But love the new yellow M individual exterior color. That with blue racing stripe would be perfect..

Love it. Looks like a modern e60 M5. Thankfully it still has a V8 unlike the new c63 and e63 likely Lots of weight but bigger car and a hybrid 🤷♂️ nobody complains about the new amg gt being 350kg heavier even though it’s lost a bunch of bespoke features

I know this is an impossible ask, but it's too bad BMW couldn't have followed suit with the new 992.2 Porsche 911 and their hybrid drivetrain. Lightweight, no charging and most importantly only 50KG weight gain. I do like the look of the new M5, but I the M3 Touring is still the sweet spot in the M line up.

This thing will make sure that used F90 prices stay high Edit (for NPC's that replied): Older, non-hybrid M cars will be sought after, considering the driving experience that they offer. I don't think that true BMW & M drivers appreciate 2.5 ton hybrids, regardless of their plastic bumpers. Unlike you, I actually drive G80 M3, so what I'm saying is coming from experience. I bet you bots don't have a licence, let alone a high performance vehicle.
